I’m from the 20th Century, When the times were good. There was nothing to worry about and nothing to fear. Life was like picking fruits from fruit-bearing plants. I’m from the time when the outside was enjoyable. There were swing sets to swing on and playgrounds to play on. Me and my brother would always go there and have fun. My friends always came and met me outside to go have fun. We climbed the trees that were abundant but now disappearing. | I’m from the time when electronics slowly started to take over. It seemed to be a river slowly rising and taking over the river bank. A lot of people start to stay inside including me. We can’t get away from these electronics because they’re now a part of our lives. Now, I’m in the time of economic trouble. Economy is in the slumps seeming to have no way out. Everyone is in need of money, including my family. “When will this bad time end?” I wonder. I’m currently now at a school, Filled with students people would call nerds. This school may be hard, But it has benefits too. | I'm From... | Page 2

My Mother's Kitchen | There is a house with a kitchen, Just waiting to be used. That’s when my mom steps in, With no reason but to cook. She opens the oven, To put something in. I can’t wait until the wait is over, To eat whatever comes out. However, today I’m shocked! I see something green inside the oven. My mom sees it too and runs to the oven. She opens the door, and something’s not right. There is an awful stench in the air. Something seems to have died in the oven. This has never happened before And my mom doesn’t know what to do. We just threw it out, to get rid of it for good. That was my mother’s kitchen. It wasn’t expected. I’m sure this will never happen again because This is my mother’s kitchen. | Page 3

Mother To Son | “Come over here,” my mother said one day. “There is something I have to tell you. I want you to know the good and bad. Just three rules that you should follow in life.” One, lie at only times you should. Courtesy always goes first before the truth. Something may taste bad, But lie about it to allow the other person to feel better. Two, don’t give up. Always try your best at everything. That is the only way to get what you want to accomplish. Go for it all the way! Third, help out other people. When people are in need, You should go help them out. They may help you out in the future. That is what I call mother to son. I just have to follow these “rules,” And then I can lead an okay life With nothing going wrong. | Page 4

Ode To GSMST | Oh GSMST! There is none like you in the rest of Georgia. You, yourself, are unique! There is no one else like you! You always give people a challenge. Once accomplishment after another, You always want people to make another. People strive for another accomplishment because of the chances you give us. There is nothing wrong with you. You have enough intelligence to teach us all you know. Whenever people have a question, They come and ask you. People come far and wide to you. They wish to learn from you And only you. They strive to be the best student of you. Oh GSMST! There will never be another like you. You will reach the top, To the point where no one can pass. You are GSMST! | Page 5

Page 6 | There once was a frog named Herb, who liked to spell out a verb. One day he slipped angrily because of his lily and now he is stuck in the curb. There once was a farmer from Climes, Who ate six bushels of limes. It soon came to pass, He was covered with glass, And he couldn't sit down for the rhymes! There once was a person named Seam, Who liked to think out a theme. One day he kicked quickly Because he felt palely And now his eye has a weird gleam. There once was a person from Felays, Who ate six bags full of lays. It soon came to be, He was showing with glee, And he couldn’t have time for the essays! There once was a person named Kate, Who liked to make predicate. One day she kicked wildly Because she felt weirdly And now another new plate. | Language Arts Limericks

Page 7 | The Road Not Taken By: Robert Frost | Two Roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry i could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that, the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Page 8 | Rhyme Scheme: abbab cdccd efeef ghggh Personification: Because it was grassy and wanted wear (A road cannot want! Wanting is a human characteristic.) Alliteration: Though as for that, the passing there (A lot of th sounds occur throughout this line.) Repetition: Somewhere ages and ages hence (Ages appears twice in this line.) | Analysis

Page 9 | I've been all around the world I've been a new sensation But it doesn't really matter In this generation The sophomore slump is an uphill battle And someone said that ain't my scene 'Cause they need a new song Like a new religion Music for the television I can't do the long division Someone do the math For the record label puts me on the shelf up in the freezer Got to find another way to live the life of leisure So I drop my top Mix and I mingle Is everybody ready for the single and it goes... [Chorus] Ha La La La La Now listen closely to the verse I lay (Ha La La La La) It's all about the wordplay (Ha La La La Love) The wonderful thing it does Because, because I am the wizard of ooh's and ah's and fa-la-la's Yeah the Mister A to Z They say I'm all about the wordplay | And it's time to get ill I got your remedy For those who don't remember me Well let me introduce you to my style I try to keep a jumble And the lyrics never mumble When the music's makin' people tongue-tied You want a new song Like a new religion Music for the television I can't do the long division Someone do the math For the people write me off like I'm a one-hit wonder Gota find another way to keep from goin' under Pull out the stops Got your attention I guess it's time again for me to mention The wordplay [Chorus] Ha La La La La Now listen closely to the verse I lay (Ha La La La La) It's all about the wordplay (Ha La La La Love) The wonderful thing it does Because, because I am the wizard of ooh's and ah's and fa-la-la's Yeah the Mister A to Z They say I'm all about the wordplay | Wordplay By: Jason Mraz

Page 10 | I built a bridge across the stream my consciousness It always seems to be a flowin' But I don't know which way my brain is goin' Oh the ryhmin' and the timin' Keeps the melodies inside me And they're comin' Till I'm running out of air Are you prepared to take a dive into the deep end of my head Are you listening to a single word I've said Ha La La La La Listen closely to the words I say Ha La La La La I'm stickin' to the wordplay Ha La La La Love The wonderful thing it does Because, because I am the wizard of ooh's and ah's and fa-la-la's Yeah the Mister A to Z They say I'm all about the wordplay Ha La La La La I'm all about the wordplay Ha La La La La Stickin' with the wordplay Ha La La La Love I love the wonderful thing it does Because, because The ooh's and ah's and fa-la-la's fall back in love For the Mister A to Z they say Is all about the wordplay

Page 11 | Analysis | Simile: 'Cause they need a new song like a new religion Repetition: The entire chorus is repeated Personification: But I don't know which way my brain is goin' External Rhyme: Happens in the verses like flown' and goin'
