BC: Niccolo became a big military figure in Florence and many people read his book the Prince. It's been translated to other languages also.

FC: Niccolo Machiavelli By: Kelsey Carithers

1: In Florence, a baby boy named Niccolo was born on May 3, 1469. This was a time of great thinkers, artists, and writers.

2: Nic was blood related to the lords of Montespertoli. Who were big in power years before Nic came along.

4: Nic's father belonged to a poor branch of an old Florentine family and had a library with books from Greek and Roman thinkers. This inspired Nic.

7: A love for books was a Machiavelli family value they all treasured, which nourished Nic's eagerness to learn.

9: Nic was really into Italian and Latin books throughout his education

11: Nic made the world of men and things his study. He became really skilled in writing in his mother-tongue.

12: His important works about society, history and politics were composed in 1512.

15: Nic wrote a book about political problems in his society and how people should handle problems like these. This book was called The Prince. Some called it Politics for Dummies.

17: In 1502, Nic married Marietta Corsini. She gave him many children

18: Nic published The Art of War which was about military science. He was the head of the Florentine militia. His foe was the Medici family because they were for Spain who defeated Florentine.

21: He wrote letters of exile and was honored by some, hated by some. He began to sum up the theme of the prince years later; Force and Prudence are the might of all governments.

23: Niccolo Died June, 21 1527. His words are still viewed as political genius and he is referred to for political tactics. His epitaph read: There is no eulogue great enough to praise such a mighty name.
