FC: The story of a boy | Nwoye
1: Nwoye is Okonkwo's first son. He was an indirect character and he had a lot of internal conflict within himself because of his father. He seems to be very shy in the beggining but as the story progresses he starts to find himself. He tries to impress his father but it doesn't seem to work. Okonkwo sees his laziness and is determined to beat it out of him.Because of all the beatings Nwoye is very afraid of his father but a boy named Ikemefuna comes into the picture an tries to help bring out Nwoye's masculinity. Nwoye does improve and he starts making his own descions but His father becomes even more displeased when he sees what his son has become.
2: Nwoye's beatings caused him to be afraid of his father, so he spent as little time as possible with Okonkwo. (p.63)
3: "A chick that will grow into a cock can be spotted the very day it hatches"
4: Ikemefuna comes into Nwoye's life and he starts act more like a man. He looks up to Ikemefuna and he wants to be like him. Ikemefuna brings out the man in Nwoye that Okonkwo has been wanting to see.
6: When Nowoye finds out that his father killed Ikemefuna in the evil forest he is devestated. He looses all intrest in trying to impress his father.
8: Nwoye's Family was forced to leave their village because Okonkwo accidently killed someone.
10: The "white men" came to Nwoye's new village to spread their religion.
11: Nwoye showed great intrest in this new faith and converted to Christianity. He leaves his family for good, after his father beats him because of his new beliefs.
13: At first Nwoye tried this new religion to anger his father but afer a while his motives changed and he really started to believe it. Nwoye changed his name to Isaac and became a missionary.
