 Where I'm From
I am from a quietness of a place that is near Buffalo Bayou, founded by General Sam Houston. I am from the happy family nights of watching the TV. I am from the climbing tree in the yard, the colorful flowers all around. I am from our little pet bird that left this world long ago. From the warm summer days of buttered corn and the cold winters of hot chocolate. I am from a world that is better understood by the children than the adults. I am from the memories of exploring unknown territory, the rest of my neighborhood. I am from the ambition of paving my own road into this world. I am from the photo albums gathering dust in the shelves in my parent's room. I am from the wonderful memories of my family and friends.
My mother's kitchen, full of smells and tastes, Is old but clean and spotless, Complete with knives and spoons and forks. The white, tiled floor knows the feeling of being stepped on. The large, black oven used countless times. The dishwasher is filled with clean cups and dishes. The sound of fresh, green vegetables And the thud of the knife Fills the air with a solemn beat. The smell of the cooking beef And the final ding of the timer Adds to the kitchen music. Although the kitchen is full of dangerous items, It is my mother's kitchen, And it is a safe place for me.

 Mother to Son
Well son, the easy life is like a mirage. It’s not the easy road that others think of. Life is much harder than you think. It's more of a maze. Which has curves and twists That will leave you trapped for years. It has traps and tricks And an occasional glimpse of an opportunity That vanishes before your very eyes. Sometimes when you think you’ve made it, It pulls you back in And turns away. You have to use your head And see past the bends and corners And you will see that life is actually a straight path.
Oh GSMST, with your narrow hallways And your apparent lack of students, You are known for having the best. Walking back in time however, You aren’t that important, With only 3 years of experience. With the diversity of the students, You are like an example of them. You are well-rounded with many skills. Oh GSMST, with your continuous strings of success, You are creating a glorious name And reputation for yourself. Blue and gray, gray and blue, With all the help you give, You are the source of infinite possibilities.
 Ode to GSMST
There is running and swimming and jumping And also climbing and eating and drinking. These are the words of action But just a small fraction Of all the components of writing.

 The Sound of Letting Go
This is the point of no return ‘Cuz this is where we crash and burn And now every time I face this pain I can hear it coming back again It's the sound of letting go. It's the sound of letting go. It's the sound of letting go. It's the sound of letting go. It's the sound of letting go.
Breaking up and breaking down This is what we've come to now What's the use, we can't deny Can't you hear it? It's the sound of letting go. We could go around all day Fine excuses we can say In the silence I can hear Can't you feel it? It's the sound of letting go.
It’s the sound of letting go. I know you can hear it. It’s the sound of letting go. I know we can't deceive it. I know you can hear it. It’s the sound of letting go. I know we can't deceive it. It’s the sound of letting go.
It’s getting louder and louder What we gonna do? It’s getting louder and louder Fillin’ up the room . I can hear it hear it Comin’ over us. I can hear it tellin’ me that we've had enough It’s getting louder and louder What we gonna do? It’s getting louder and louder Fillin’ up the room . I can hear it, hear it Comin’ over us.
I can't let it break me down, This is what we've come to now. What's the use, we can't deny (Can't you hear it?) It's the sound of letting go. Every time I face this pain I hear it coming back again And I've been calling out your name (Can't you hear it?) It's the sound of letting go. It's the sound of letting go. I can hear it. I can hear it. It's the sound of letting go. I can hear it. I can hear it. It's the sound of letting go.
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth. Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same. And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
