The Mine | A Mourning Family

A death in the family leaves a void that cannot be filled. No one can ever take the place of this individual in the world. We should not try to comfort the family by saying that "it was his time anyway", or, "he was suffering". These may be words of comfort later. However, there must be time to mourn the fact that things will never be the same. One minute he was here and now he is gone. The human mind must be allowed to sit with this reality. Mourning is a necessary part of the human experience. If it is ignored, a general feeling of sadness may pervade the whole family. | Miners

OUR HERO | When people share experiences together, and then they must part, there is a feeling of sadness. Saying goodbye to people that we feel connected to is an occasion of somber reflection. It is hard to imagine our lives without them, and yet we have no choice but to go on. It is comforting to know that for however long you will be separated you will always be in each others hearts. It is also an opportunity to be more present to others in your life and to look for opportunities to form new friendships.

A family is like a body. When a family loses a loved one, it is as if they have lost one of their limbs. The contribution that was made by the family member that was lost can never be replaced. That person is gone. What that person has brought to the family is gone. Is it important for the family to take time to grieve for this loss. Doing so is a matter of respect for the relative that has passed. It is also a step that the family must take to acknowledge its loss. If we do not take the time to honor the lost relative, it is as if we are saying that they didn't matter to us.

Life is given as a gift, So wonderful and new, We need to live it day to day, Being careful as we do, True treasure is not found in pirate ships, in chest of silver and gold, treasure isn't ruby rings, and jewels from long ago. My treasure is you, being my hero. Every morning I wake up and think, did I pray for him in my sleep, I think about you all the time, hoping and praying you no I'm at your side. Whenever you feel like no one is there, just close your eyes and I'll be there, hoping and praying each and everyday, and leaving the bad news to yesterday. Now all I do is think about you and cry, I cherish all the memories that are shared, and remember how much I love and care, you are gone now and it's still hard to part, In Memory Of The Pike River Miners

Death is life's greatest mystery. What happens when our soul leaves our body is the most important question in the world. The answer will affect how we live our lives. The world is plagued with the question of what comes after this. When we are faced with the death of a friend or relative, we are stunned with grief. We don't understand, he was here and now he's not, where did he go? Where does the spirit go? The truth is that our soul knows of its eternal nature. If we ask our souls this question in a real way, we will find that we know that we are made from the stuff of eternity.
