The Essence How do I say? I just wanna talk to you I don't wanna say the wrong thing All the words in my head Wanna say 'em all just right | My knees start to tremble I am completely consumed Like a little child Like a dream come true I adore you Just like hopes springing high Rose in bloom All my dreams come true In the flush of love's light Everything that used to matter Don't matter no more Costs all we are and will ever be Yet it is only love Which sets us free
Langston Hughes was born in 1902 in Missouri as James Mercer Langston Hughes. He is most famous for his literary work during the Harlem Renaissance. His family life was unstable when he was a child and he grew up with a grandmother in Kansas. After his grandmother's death he moved with some friends. As a high school student he was elected "Class Poet". He has written poetry, novels, plays, and | short stories. During his writing career Hughes entertained the idea of a communist society. He had been subjected to many racial predjudices and thought that it would be a great change. One of his famous poems "A Raisin in the Sun" was the inspiration for a play, that later became a movie. After many great literary works were published he died on May 22, 1967 from complications of a surgery at the age of 65. Even after many years Langston Hughes' works are still widely famous.
"A Dream Deferred" ~Langston Hughes What happens to a dream deferred? Does is dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotton meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags like a heavy load. Or does it explode?

"Over You" By: Chris Daughtry Now that it's all said and done I can't believe you were the one To build me up and tear me down Like an old abandoned house What you said when you left Just left me cold and out of breath Fell to far, was in way to deep I guess I let you get the best of me Well I never saw it coming I should of started running A long long time ago And I never thought I'd doubt you I'm better off without you More than you, More than you know I'm slowly getting closure I guess it's really over | I'm finally getting better Now I'm picking up the pieces and spending all of these years Putting my heart back together The day I thought I'd never get through I got over you! You took a hammer to these walls dragged the memories down the hall Packed your bags and walked away There was nothing I could say When you slammed the front door shut A lot of others opened up So did my eyes so I could see That you never were the best for me Well I never saw it coming I should of started running
A long long time ago And I never thought I'd doubt you I'm better off without you More than you More than you know I'm slowly getting closure I guess it's really over I'm finally getting better Now I'm picking up the pieces And spending all of these these years Putting my heart back together t's a day I thought I'd never get through I got over you Well I never saw it | coming I should of started running A long long time ago And I never thought I'd doubt you I'm better off without you More than you, More than you know Well I never saw it coming I should of started running A long long time ago And i never thought I'd doubt you I'm better off without you More than you, More than you know I'm slowly getting closure | I guess it's really over I'm finally getting better Now I'm picking up the pieces and spending all of these years Putting My heart back together Oh Ooooooh! Now I'm putting my heart back together! oh Ooooooooh! Cause I got over you! I got over you! I got over you! It's a day I thought I'd never get through I got over you
Whether a person is considered a poet or a musical artist they write poetry. A famous poet from the Harlem Renaissance, Langston Hughes and a popular musical artist, Chris | Daughtry, have things that are similar. Both of them grew up in the south. At the beginning of their lives they really didn't have much interest in their later careers. Once in high school, they became involved in their respective crafts. One major difference though is that Langston Hughes had to deal with racial predjudices. On the other hand, Chris Daughtry doesn't have that, he can have his work freely enjoyed by all.
Although on the surface they both seem different, underneath both are very similar. | While it is probably true that they had many themes alike, these particular themes,, Langston Hughes' poem, "A Raisin in the Sun" focuses on dreams and Chris Daughtry's song, "Over You" focuses on heartbreak after a relationship. Where as, both pieces of work in general have two themes that aren't the same, both poems focus on having pain and trouble. With "A Raisin in the Sun", the "dream is deferred" and in "Over You" he is trying to get over the pain.

Wishes ~Marisa Fraley If I had a genie I'd wish for you here To have you hold me tight And never let go To say hi to everyday To show you how much I love you If I had a genie I'd wish just to see you Feel your touch Make all my dreams come true If I had a genie I wouldn't need three wishes I'd only need one...you
Girl and the Beast ~Marisa Fraley (Poker poem) The girl giggles at the beast He is cursed as a symbol of love His life is a crazy web In the moonlight he follows the smoke The soul of the beast is a man in the fog of winter As the man giggles He follows his heart Against the sour hate
