FC: The Battle of Chickamauga | Starla Harrell
1: The Civil war was fought for several different reasons but it was mainly fought to abolish slavery. The North had a lot of problems with the South wanting to get slaves to do there work. In history of wars this happened to be the bloodiest. It was the bloodiest because it was Americans fighting Americans. There was 600,000 people who died in the war.
2: The Battle of Chickamauga was fought in the northwestern Georgia, and in southeastern Tennessee. It was called the Chickamauga campaign. It was fought because the confederate soldiers wanted to regain Chattanooga.
3: The battle was fought on September 19-20, 1863.
4: This Battle only lasted 2 days, but it was still a good one. The Confederates had one this Battle, but the could have easily lost that fight. Commander Braxton Bragg could have driven the Union back. But instead he through it away.
