S: Summer Vacation 2011

BC: The month of July, 2011, was an exciting one for the Krainik family. Andy had just finished his EP Fellowship at Washington University, and would not be starting at Missouri Baptist Hospital until August 1st, 2011. For the first time since, well, ever, he had an entire month off. We put it to good use. First, we traveled from St. Louis, MO, to Oak Forest, IL. We visited with Great Grandma Danielewicz, and saw many friends and cousins. We went to the Shedd Aquarium and saw the Dolphins and the Jellyfish. We went with Grandma Beth and Grandpa Gerry to the Great Wolf Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells. And then we went to Grandma Sue and Grandpa Irv's house in Hayward, WI. After a week's reprieve, and a birthday party for Evan, we hopped a plane to Naples, FL. We spent most of the remainder of the month swimming and walking along the Gulf of Mexico. Not a bad way to spend a month. I wonder where our next trip will take us...

Dinner at the Rock Bottom Brewery | The after dinner sundaes were a big hit! | Orland Park, IL

Grant was very happy to wear his napkin as a scarf toward the end of the meal. | Evan, drinking up his chocolate syrup. The highlight of his meal.

We all had a great time at the Rock Bottom. The boys enjoyed their sundaes, and we were able to spend our time with Pink Grandma (Beth) and Grandpa Gerry.

We took them to the Shedd Aquarium- this was the view from the deck. We had the perfect weather to spend the morning in Chicago by the beautiful Lake Michigan.

At the Shedd, awaiting Dora 4D, wherein we had gale winds blown at us, water shot at us, and a whole lot of fun. Except for Grant, who was a little scared and refued to wear his 3D glasses. Maybe next time.!

Waiting for the Dolphin Show, and playing in the Arctic Play Zone.

Enjoying a nice snack outside on the deck.

Everyone had a great time at the Shark Reef, where we saw a lot of amazing coral, and a lot of scary, hungry-looking sharks.

After a long morning in the city, we ended up back at Great Grandma's House. Very tired, but very happy about our little advernture.

At the Great Wolf Lodge, in Wisconsin Dells, WI. We went with Grandma Beth and Grandpa Gerry, for an overnight trip filled with waterslides and swimming.!We had a great time!

Our room at the Lodge. We had two beds on the first floor, and one up on the second.!

 Having fun at the arcade.

Evan absolutely loved the slides and swimming in the pools. Grant was a little more timid, but he especially liked the hot tub. | The Great Wolf Lodge was HUGE, with three different indoor parks, two different outdoor pools, and tons of slides of all kinds.

Our last day in the Dells. We were sad to leave, but we will go back soon. | We ate at a sports bar that happened to have games right next to the table. Driving and shooting games were favorites.

 Annddddd... Welcome to Hayward, WI!

The Wilderness Walk in Hayward, WI

Samantha loved the animals. | Deer just walked around as they pleased.! | The fawns liked to be hand fed. | Little deer. | The boys loved the baby animals. | Evan loved feeding the deer.

My look-a-likes. Can you tell them apart? This was at Becky's house, for Samantha's second birthday party.

Samantha's Second Birthday Party | Putting together the swingset. It took... a while.

With Grandma Sue, Grandpa Irv, and Cousin Ashley, at the Lumberjack Show in Hayward, WI. We all had a great time, watching the Lumberjacks. But, first, there was Superman ice cream... and a few blue tongues.

And then here we are on the way to Naples, FL. This was Grant's first plane ride, and he loved it.

At La Playa Beach and Resort in Naples, FL. The room was nice, and opened up right onto the beach. The boys especially liked the beds, which had a sheer canopy that they could close on all four sides.

We found a Buca di Beppo! | After a long day of fun in the sun, we were so happy to fill our bellies with some good Italian food!Even Grant, who was pretending to sleep.

Evan and his birthday hat. We spent Evan's 5th birthday in Florida, so he wore this nice hat to let everyone know it was his birthday. And it worked wonders- 30 people must have stopped to wish him a happy birthday and to ask him how old he was. If the pics are blurry, it's because I had a moving subject.

Sitting on the hotel's porch. "I'm 5 today."

They had some beautiful tropical birds. | At the Naples Zoo | And a strange carved guy, too.

We saw a bunch of gators in the water, just waiting to eat. A moose and some zebras. And this crazy duck-like thing, We didn't know what it was, but it sure was ugly. We fed some fish before we waited in line to go on a boat. The little cruise took us around their primate islands, where we saw some monkeys and lemurs.

Evan's 5th birthday dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in Naples. He was very pleased when they sang to him and brought him out a birthday sundae.

Enjoying the sunset on the beach. It was beautiful.

Lunch at the Old Naples Pub. Grant really liked the Gator bites, which were apparently very chewy.

We took the boys to the Dinsosaur Playground. | The had a good time, climbing and just playing with all the toys.

My two little men on their rockers.

 Coming home!
