FC: The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a devastating era in American History. It had a lot of economic hardship. Jobless rates and poverty skyrocketed. The government struggled to provide basic needs to their people.
When banks were closing and people lost their money jobs and homes. They lost all their money because when the banks closed their money disappeared because they had no insurance back then as we do now.
They lost their jobs because the bank fails caused the company owners to have no money and lose their company. They lost homes because of no jobs. So all this was due to bank fails.
The Great Depression lasted for 10 years. There were depressions before this stock market crash but they were not as bad or long lasting before Black Thursday.
Life during the Great Depression was brutal. Each day was a struggle just to survive. There was no money or stores to get food from. No one had money for the basic necessities of life.
They had no shelter either they were huddling up and houses made of sticks and mud and such because of the financial state of the economy. Life was definitely full of hardship during The Great Depression
Banks, Factories, and stores closed and left millions of Americans jobless and broke. Because of this decline these people were effected the hardest.
I believe the great depression ended because of WWII because once they entered world war 2 they gave all the men and women jobs from working in factories building machines for war or on the battlefront.
The Great Depression took a toll on nearly every American. Hopefully we can learn from the mistakes of the past so we don't repeat them.
