FC: Vacation to Oregon 2011
Our first stop was Uncle Michael & Aunt Jennifer's. Alex and Aliyah loved their backyard, with all of the plants, trails, and CHICKENS! Alex called the chicken coup "Chicken World." Aliyah loved to feed the chickens. There were also lots of fun toys to play with. The favorites were the ukulele, the umbrella hats, the tape measure, and the Russian stacking dolls. Aunt Jennifer even gave us some stacking dolls and a tape measure to take home with us! Jennifer also made us lots of yummy food.
 Portland Zoo
 With Uncle Michael
The Zoo From Aliyah's Point of View
Aliyah and Alex had a great time at the zoo taking pictures with their own cameras. Aliyah's favorite things were feeding nectar to the Larakeets, looking at the elephants, and watching the seals swim. Uncle Michael got bitten by a Larakeet because he tried to trick it when he didn't have any food. At the gift shop, she got a purse with a tiger in it and a lion stuffed animal.
The Zoo From Alex's Point of View
This is a picture of a goat in the farm section of the zoo. | Alex was busy all day taking pictures of every single animal we saw. He was most excited to see the monkeys. Alex said that the mountain goat was his favorite thing at the zoo. He also said, "I see a bird drinkin juice and a nocirous." He got a zoo train and a monkey stuffed animal from the gift shop.
The first day we got to Grandma's we went to the beach at the Visitor's Center right in town. The kids loved digging in the sand and looking for sea shells. Alex accidentally fell down in the water and got covered in sand and water. He didn't want to go home though. He was happy to go take a bath, and everyday after the beach for the rest of our stay he asked to go home and take a bath.
 Kid Castle
We were so excited to take the kids to Kid Castle because Tesse, Clay, Mason, and Dana enjoyed it so much when they were kids! Aliyah and Alex loved it too. Aliyah's favorites were the merry-go-round, the zip line, and the pirate ship. Alex liked driving the jeep and running around all of the towers. He did have one accident. "Papa throwed me off the wheel." Really he fell off the merry-go-round.
This was the funnest day at the beach. The kids got to dig and play in the water for the longest time. Aliyah found a whole bucket of shells, rocks, and feathers. Alex was looking for treasure, "because we pirates. Arrrgggg!"
Aliyah loved climbing the trees, and seeing the giant trees that had fallen down. She even found a yellow slug on the trail that three of us walked right past. | Redwood Forest
Alex loved "going on an adventure," and led the way on the trail. He even read the signs to us, "You have to stay on the trail and look at the trees."
 Day at the Beach
Our last day at the beach was very windy. We were hoping to hit low tide so we could see starfish and anemones. The tide didn't get low enough, but we did get to see one anemone.
Memories of Staying at Grandma's *Picking Blueberries *Hot Chocolate *Playing with the Neighbors Dog *Going to the Gift Shops *Baking Cookies *Aliyah Sleeping in the Tent *Playing Card Games *Playing Frisbee with Papa
Grandma at the Ocean made Alex a Happy Birthday pancake with a face and candles. He loved blowing out the candles and opening his present. She gave him a low boy truck hauling a trailer.
Aunt Cheryl took us to Bullwinkles! We got to play miniature golf, ride go-carts and do bumper boats. Bumper Boats were the favorite of the day because Aliyah could drive her own and we got to spray each other with water! Alex cried the whole time we played golf because he wanted to go inside the little houses, and they were locked up. On Go-Carts, Aunt Cheryl & Aliyah rode together, Alex & Tesse rode together, and Grammy raced fast all by herself. Aunt Cheryl & Aliyah won!
Aunt Cheryl took us to the mall next. First, we had lunch. In the food court there was a small Merry-Go-Round and a small Ferris Wheel. Grammy paid for the kids to take a ride on them. Next we went to Build-A-Bear. The kids both picked out teddy bears and had them stuffed. Then they got to "take them a bath," according to Alex. They got to pick out an outfit for their bears and make them birth certificates. Aliyah named her bear Cudls. Alex named his bear Don't because he was throwing a fit when we were typing on the computer.
Memories of Staying at Aunt Cheryl's | The park with a trail and a HUGE slide. Going to the concert in the park. Playing games like Boggle, Mousetrap, Whack-A-Mole, Loopin' Louie, and Thomas the Train.
Doing our fingernails with the nail stamps Aunt Cheryl & Grammy bought at the mall. Eating dinner at the barbecue place with pictures of golfing cowboys on the walls. | Celebrating Alex's birthday with an ice cream cake. Playing with Bubble Rocket and Remote Control Pick-up Aunt Cheryl, Uncle Paul, and Ike gave to Alex for his birthday.
