8: The Veil | The veil is of particular significance to Melissa. It was constructed of her mother's dress and veil worn over 35 years ago. The tulle was her mother's original veil. The lace around the veil was cut form her wedding dress. Melissa expressed being more excited about this piece of her attire than any other part. She wanted to honor her parents and their long marriage. She also wanted to honor the close relationship she has with both her parents.

19: Now Kris and Melissa use the salt to symbolize the covenant being made between them and before God – and including God. As Kris and Melissa blend the salt from each others salt bag it represents their commitment to one another and to God. The bond of the commitment cannot be broken, just as the salt can no longer be separated.

20: Melissa, commitment to Sean and Liam Sean and Liam, I thank God for bringing you both into my life, and I thank you for sharing your father and yourselves with me. I accept you as my own, promising to always be there for you with an open heart to love you, encourage you, guide you, and protect you. Sean to Melissa We promise to honor and respect you Melissa for you have brought great joy into our fathers life and into our lives as well

21: Salt Ceremony The use of salt is symbolic – in ancient days it was used to symbolize the lasting of a covenant or treaty. The use of salt in sacrifices was an appropriate reminder of the covenant relationship between God and man. Lev 2:13 Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings. In the New Testament, Jesus calls us to be the “salt” of the earth – we are to bring the bond between God and people. | Now Kris and Melissa use the salt to symbolize the covenant being made between them and before God – and including God. As Kris and Melissa blend the salt from each others salt bag it represents their commitment to one another and to God. The bond of the commitment cannot be broken, just as the salt can no longer be separated.
