S: Barlage Late 2009
FC: Barlage Late 2009
Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn. ~Elizabeth Lawrence
Madelyn found Grandma Ginger's trombone. She wasn't too bad for a beginner! | Grandpa said "Make sure you put that up before Kedran comes!" (Madelyn's cousin) That kid's got LUNGS!!!
Uncle Andy and Mariana got along very well...and now we know why! | They both enjoy watching tv and neither really cared what was on!
During the apple pick ( no picture of that), we forgot to pick up the pumpkins Grandpa Lewis grew for the girls...so we stopped again on our way back home. | We found Mariana's and we let Madelyn find her pumpkin with her name on it!
The Twins took on the Detroit Tigers for a spot in the play-off. So "celebrate", CCS had a day to wear your Twins or Tigers gear | The night before, I dug around only to find a SIZE 3T shirt which actually fit (tightly) on Madelyn | Mrs. B (4K teacher) was from Michigan and was the only one wearing & routing for the Tigers). It was the night of CCS's Soup super, I worked the pie's with Josh Sasse (Hannah's Dad) and he had the web access on his phone for constant updates which Mrs. B & I appreciated!
Madelyn got Mommy's camera again! | No ,Madelyn! get the book off your sister!
After her photo shoot, Mariana was seeing stars! | Fortunately, baby Mariana can sleep through anything! | I told Madelyn if she wanted to play music, she had to do it upstairs...but wanted to be by the baby!
 Mommy, I like this toy!
Another photo shoot with Mommy (after Madelyn's Ballet class) | It gave Mommy something to do while Madelyn played on the swing set!
 Great fun in the leaves!
 (Ok, Mariana didn't like it!)
Yuck!! | Mommy took over for Madelyn
My Little Bee | This costume started before Mariana was! Last Halloween I came up with the idea of being a Bee Keeper if God granted us with a "little bee" of our own, since I had found a bee veil at a garage sale. The bee costume came from Heidi's (daycare).
I didn't exactly want snow for the picture, but it is Minnesota! | Here's my baby bee with a REAL Bee Keeper ...Grandpa Lewis!
Madelyn wanted to do the "Princess" thing this year...and Of Course, it had to be PINK! | Unlce Andy came to visit and had a ref costume (good pick!)
Don't let the Princess costume fool you, these two Princesses were anything but proper young Ladies at the Halloween Party at the Johnson's | You might say they acted like a bunch of KIDS!
Uncle Andy Helps Give The Baby a Bath! | Mariana wasn't sure WHAT we were doing when we did the bath in the kitchen?!
I don't know why, but this became one of my favorite pictures of Mariana ...just because it really ISN'T the perfect pose!
First Solid Food Feedings | It didn't go too well! | "I said No More Pictures!"
Madelyn was so pumped that Homer came and sat up on her lap!
Different Pictures on a Snowy Day
Thanksgiving 2009 | The girls found their Great-Grandma Melba's Beads & had a ton of fun!!
It's time to cut the cake, make a wish and open presents!
The Barlage side of the family got here first and started into the toys!
 Scooby Doo Theme!
Hope you have the greatest Birthday ever!
For those not as "into" Scooby Doo as Madelyn & I are, there still was plenty to do (as in Baby Mariana)!
 Presents and Birthday Hugs
Grandpa Lewis enjoyed playing with his little Grand-daughter
Everyone got a turn at the "ghost" (pinata) in the basement
Too tired to eat?! (too bad she wouldn't sleep through the night!) | Madelyn's cookies verses Sheldon's cookies!
Girl's Night Over | Madelyn just LOVED to hold her baby sister! | Sleep Over with cousins Abby and Taylor
I invited all the kids in Madelyn's Kindergarten class (16), figuring they wouldn't all be able to make it...they didn't, there there about 3 that weren't able to make it! That left 13 kids + Hannah, Logan, Taylor and Abby! | Madelyn's Friend Party: All the games had a "Scooby" Theme! | The "Ghost" (Pinata)
The "Mummy": The kids couldn't do much of this on their own, but they would wrap themselves up in toilet paper like a mummy!
I had clues for the kids to keep guessing the monster, games for "chase" scene and a "Freddie Trap" that didn't catch the monster who "stole the birthday cake" (Me) | The Sack Race was the "Tar Monster" black bags, plus this was the episode that Shaggie & Scooby hopped around in their sleeping bags!
They were cute ideas, but most stuff was above the age of the kids (except Taylor). It was mostly too many kids that were too young, and I had them for TOO LONG (3 hours)! | I'll have to make some slight adjustments to next year's plan! | Mariana didn't know what to think of all the commotion! | We ended with watching a few episodes of Scooby on the TV! | I was glad when they all left, though it was fun. | Madelyn had a good time!
Miss Warner's Angels (Christmas Program at CCS) | I heard Madelyn singing the Christmas program songs since September. But when it came time for the program, she looked around, wiggled her arms out of her sweater (too hot) and did about everything but sing! | I started getting discouraged, until I forced myself to watch others in her class...yeap, they were doing that too!
Mariana Liked her Big Baby Bouncer Seat | We used this a bunch for her to sit in while Mommy and Daddy got everyone's lunches packed for the day
 The Annual Family Christmas Picture
I discovered that the more individuals you add in a picture, the harder it will be to get just the "right" picture! It was EXTREMELY difficult to take the family picture this year, partly because we couldn't control Mariana or Homer (who REALLY didn't want to cooperate this year!)
 A Visit to Santa!
It was getting late in the season and we still hadn't visited Santa yet. I was searching the area newspapers for Santa visits that would fit our overly full schedule! | Madelyn was a little shy at first! | I managed to find a rather fun option in Elk River/Otsego that was a fund-raiser for a church youth group! | Madelyn asked for a DS!
The Santa Place also had free sleigh rides on a rather cold day. Madelyn insisted on going! | I decided it was too cold for the little sister, so I stayed back with her!
Oh, this place had everything, air hockey, pool table, pinball, crafts set out for the kids television sets in every room so NO ONE (not even Santa!) missed the Vikings vs. Packer game!
Trinity's Christmas Program: Angels and Lambs, Lady bugs and Fireflies! | Madelyn's favorite babysitter (Bailey Kampa) volunteered to do the Christmas program at church. Since I did Sunday School Opening, I was recruited to help with the songs (sigh!) | Madelyn was a lamb!
The day before the program, the kids just weren't getting it, it looked to be a disaster! | The program went smoothly, the kids learned the songs like overnight?! The props/costumes were fantastic! The girls went all out on that!
My Babies! | My little Scrapbooker | My Litte Elf: No, she didn't like that hat, but she just looked so cute!
My Girls | Not sure who's expression is sillier! | I didn't even know I had matching dress until late November, but was sure glad that luck went my way this time!
 Baby's First Christmas
This year was the first time in our marriage that we stayed at our OWN house for Christmas. We opened presents Christmas eve, look at stocking before church and then after service head to Grandma Patty's | I made/bought a number of ballet outfits for Madelyn to wear at ballet classes and for dress-up!
Stocking went over really well, because this year Santa gave the BEST gifts and hence got all the credit! | Madelyn got a gliding rocking chair for "Mommy cuddles time" and a large Scooby Doo doll! Mariana got her lights and sound puppy dog (loved it!)
We didn't make it to Grandma Patty's that day due to the Christmas Blizzard of 2009 (didn't make it to church for my solo either). Matt's snowblow died it's last death & Matt rolled it down our little hill in the front yard. After a quiet day at home, Matt paid for someone to plow us out & we finally got to Grandma's house!
Patty used to cry nearly every year we gave her a picture of the grandchildren...not any more! But this was the first year we did a picture of Matt & Chris's family together!
 The Unwrapping Frenzy!
Mariana's little "bumbo" seat with toys was made a great place to "stick" her in the morning while packing a lunch for work!
Ah, Grandparents... | They'll play with you! | Read to you! | And put you to sleep!
Madelyn had EVERY ONE try one her "Crowns"
We had a good time visiting with my family. | Sheldon especially enjoyed visiting with Mariana as his baby was less than two months away from coming!
Another tradition (one that really needs to end) is my baking Andy a "fancy" cake recipe and it NOT turning out! This year was a Chocolate Volcano!
 Just like | Uncle Andy
