About Our Family | We became "The Hiatts" on April 10, 2010. We spent our first year together in New York City! It was an incredible experience that we will cherish always! After our year in NYC, we decided to move back to Florida to be closer to family and to maybe start our own family someday. Chris started work for CCC and Amber got her first teaching job at GCDS! Our second year of marriage was off to a great start!
How We Found Out | The week before New Years 2012, Amber started feeling "weird". She was feeling more tired, had shortness of breath, had to go to the bathroom more than usual, and her tummy was feeling creepy! We both thought it was strange but also thought there was no way Amber could be pregnant, since she had just gone off birth control in December. Just to be safe, we took a test on January 2. We woke up and Amber took the test...there were two pink lines! We were both so shocked we didn't know what to do with ourselves!
How We Told Our Family & Friends | We couldn't hold it in for long! We sent an e-card to all of our family the very next day! We first got a text from Matt, Chris' brother! Then the calls came in! My sister, Harmony called me and Chris' mom called right away! As I was talking to Harmony, my mom called! Everyone was so excited! It was so fun telling them all about it! As the week went on, we couldn't keep it in. So we decided to tell our closest friends!
9-12-12 | We had our first doctor appointment this week. It was just the history appointment, nothing too exciting. But it did start to feel real being at the actual doctor and answering the real questions! We couldn't wait for the next visit! At the end of week 6, Amber got her first weird pregnancy thing! On Tuesday morning at 3am, she woke up itching like crazy! We got up to see what was going on and found hives all over her arms and legs! The itchy pain lasted four days but felt like weeks! It was the worst pain she had ever experienced! | Weeks 6 and 7 Baby is the size of a blueberry!

It was the most amazing thing to see our baby for the first time! We saw Benjamin's heart just thumping away! Dr. Million said, "Lets wake her up!" So she started pushing on my belly and the baby started dancing around and then snuggled back into me! It was the cutest thing! | First Ultrasound | Baby is the size of a Kumquat!

They say that a baby changes your life forever. So we wanted to make the most of our final days as newlyweds without children. Our "babymoon" was a trip to our old stomping grounds in the Big Apple, and down to Bonnaroo.
A hot Tennessee summer isn't exactly what the doctor ordered, but Dr. Million cleared us to spend the weekend in Manchester for our 3rd consecutive trip to the festival . We met up with our friends Tony and Jen Hernandez, and Benjamin got to hear some great acts from the womb. | Bonnaroo 2012!
