It is our dream to one day be blessed with the opportunity to cherish and nurture a child. Thank you again for reviewing this brief glimpse into our lives. We sincerely hope that it may assist you in your effort to provide the best life possible for your precious gift. Doug & April
About Us | Our names are Doug and April. We met in the spring of 2004 and quickly fell head over heels for one another. In the summer of 2006, we were married and everything about that day was perfect. A fairy tale wedding! The ceremony was held at our church in nearby Mason, Ohio in front of our family and closest friends. Our love has grown deeper with each passing day. We enjoy each others company, laughter, and companionship in all that we do. We love vacationing, going to Reds games, hitting balls at the batting cage, or just spending time on the couch watching a good movie together.
Why we are choosing to adopt | We have both always known that we wanted a family of our own. After struggling with infertility for more than 3 years we have decided to begin our family through the miracle of adoption.
About Doug | I grew up in Mason, Ohio and attended Mason City Schools from K-12. I have two loving parents and one younger brother. I graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a Bachelor of Science in Business and work as a Management Assistant with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I enjoy music and sports. I have played piano since I was a child and have been teaching myself guitar for the past four years. I'm an automobile enthusiast and can't pass up a classic car show. I also attend the Cincinnati Auto Expo each year in February. I love the outdoors, travel, and spending time with my wife, April.
Meet April | I grew up in a small town in upstate New York graduating from Campbell-Savona Central High School along with 89 other students. I have 2 sisters, one older and one younger. After high school I trained in the Cosmetology field receiving a New York state license in Cosmetology. I relocated to Ohio where I work for Cincinnati Financial Corporation as a Policy Service Specialist. I grew up playing the clarinet and I was a cheerleader from the age of 9 throughout high school. I enjoy reading, shopping, working out at the gym and spending time with my husband and in-laws at the lake. I love traveling to Myrtle Beach for our annual trip and to New York at least once or twice a year to spend time with my family.
Our faith plays an important role in our lives. We attend church regularly on Sunday mornings. We believe that spirituality builds a strong foundation of morality and integrity. It also serves as a source of comfort and guidance throughout the difficult times. | Faith
Doug talks about April | Our Hopes and Dreams | When I first met Doug I would have never dreamed I would be where I am today. He was just a cute boy in a yellow hat walking with some friends. Two weeks after meeting him I told myself "I am going to marry this man. I am falling completely and totally in love with him already." Two years later we were married and I have never looked back. Through the years of our relationship he has shown me great love and compassion. He is caring and passionate about so many things from classic cars and music to education and this entire adoption process. Early in our relationship we discussed the possibility of never having children naturally and even though I know how important having children is to him he simply said "...then we will adopt. Our children will be ours no matter where they come from." He is extremely passionate about family and his faith. He grew up in a Christian home filled with love and great morals. I know the extraordinary things his parents instilled in him will carry on to our own children as well. He is so excited about being a daddy. When he plays with our nieces and nephews I can see in his eyes how badly he wants a family of his own. Through this process of getting ready for our family, I have learned wonderful things about him as a person, a husband, and a future father. I can't wait to see the love in his heart when our bundle of joy arrives. | April talks about Doug | We look forward to raising a child in a loving environment where each day is filled with laughter and adventure. We are excited about watching him or her learn and grow throughout the years with each stage of his or her development bringing about new joys and challenges. | Meeting April is the best thing to have ever happened to me. I knew from the time I first met her how special she was and how much I hoped that this was a relationship that would last. Everything about her was perfect from her smile, to the way she made me laugh, to the meals she would fix. Her spaghetti and fettucini alfredo were far superior to the fast food I had become all too accustomed to eating. April is nurturing and compassionate. She is always thinking about what special thing she can do for someone. I found this out right away. On the 1st anniversary of the day we met, she planned a special picnic at the site where we met complete with little heart shaped sandwiches and a tablecloth. When my parents 35th wedding anniversary was approaching the following year, she contacted my sister-in-law and together they organized a special evening for my parents to celebrate and renew their vows complete with a miniature wedding cake. Last Christmas eve, she surprised me with an intimate candlelight dinner for just the two of us before joining my parents at church. I know she is thrilled with the prospect of planning special outings and events for our children. The vacations she organizes are always fun and exciting. I cherish her thoughtfulness and kindness each day. I know what a wonderful mother April will be to our children and I can't wait to start a family with her. I see the way she laughs and plays with our nieces and nephews and how much they enjoy spending time with her. I look forward to spending many fun times with our own children in the years to come.
Doug's Family | Family is extremely important to us. We have realized through this process that a strong support system is a necessity. If we need a hug, a handshake or just someone on the other end of the telephone, we know both of our families are extremely excited and supportive. | Me and my brother Greg | Playing guitar with my nephew Sam | My mom Jan and dad Jim | My brother and sister-in-law
Everyone is looking forward to welcoming the newest member of our family. Whether spending vacations with Aunt Jenny and Uncle Kris in Myrtle Beach, Christmas here in Ohio with Doug's family, or playing in the snow with cousins in upstate New York over Thanksgiving, our children will grow up knowing how important family really is. | April's Family | My older sister and her family | My mom and little brother | My dad | Me and my sister Jen
Traditions... | We are excited about sharing holiday traditions with our child. Each year for Thanksgiving, we pack up and head to New York to spend the holiday with April's family. We enjoy spending time with nieces and nephews, and shopping on Black Friday. At Christmas, we attend a Christmas Eve church service with Doug's parents and then head home to exchange gifts between the two of us. On Christmas day, we get together with Doug's mom, dad, and his brother's family to open gifts, snack, have dinner, and watch Christmas movies (from the classics to contemporary comedies). It's always a fun and festive time. | Holidays &
