HADLEY IS ALMOST 2 WEEKS OLD
1 MONTH OLD | You are such a good baby! You only cry if you are hungry, have a dirty diaper, or are fighting sleep. You rolled over at 1 1/2 weeks old, which is a lot earlier than usual. You love your pacifiers and can drink from a bottle too! You like to grunt, chirp, whimper, and make other random noises.
You have started making eye contact and tracking things. You also sneeze and hiccup a lot! We call you Hic-ley when you sneeze. You sleep really well and only wake up about twice a night to be fed. You're generally only awake for about 5 hours a day, but we make the most of that time.
 2 MONTHS OLD
You are such a happy little girl. While you're still sweet and cuddly, you like some alone time as well. Every day you like to swing and play on your play mat.. You enjoy swinging while sucking on your lambie. On the play mat, you like to kick your legs and dance to the music. You also enjoy the lights and the toys that hang from it. You started smiling at us this month! It melted our hearts. Mommy and Daddy live for those smiles and would do almost anything to see them. You started babbling this month too. You "fake cry" and squeal to let us know if you're unhappy about something.. There are a lot of times that you just "talk" though. Even the pediatrician said you were very vocal for a 2 month old. This month, you started holding your head up. You are able to support your weight on your legs and try to walk! You're a lot more aware of your surroundings now too. If you see something that interests you, you will fixate on it. You could easily win any staring contest.
3 MONTHS OLD | Grandma Hayden bought you a rainforest play mat this month, and you absolutely love it! There is a little monkey which is your favorite . Whenever we put you on the play mat, you look for the monkey and smile when you see it. You can bat at the rattle, crinkle the leaf with your foot, and scoot yourself around on the mat. In fact, you've even scooted off of the mat!
You discovered your fist this month. You love to stick your fist, dress, or anything close to you, in your mouth. We bought you some teethers and you're slowly figuring out how to use them. However, you prefer to chew on your fist. You have a lot better head control this month. We have put you in your bumbo chair for short amounts of time so that you can practice sitting up. You're still pretty little for it though so we don't leave you in it alone. We try to give you tummy time as well, but you roll over as soon as we put you on your tummy. We think you're going to be quite a determined little girl. You're just going to do what you want to do!
4 MONTHS OLD | Wow, big girl! You just keep changing so much! You learned how to roll over from your back to your tummy this month. You also stopped crying when you need something, but only because you have decided that screaming is more fun. You love to laugh and giggle now, especially at noises and expressions people make. You also became more cuddly this month. You love to snuggle your head into my shoulder.
We went to Memphis this month so you could be baptized. You got to meet a lot of our friends while we were there. Your godparents are Robyn Michelle Gourley and Branden Lynes, mommy and daddy's good friends.
5 MONTHS OLD | This | You are getting so mobile this month! You are constantly rolling over and you have started doing the "inch worm". You get on your elbows and knees, then you drop your head and push off with your feet to move a couple of inches. After doing this, you’ll raise your head to see how much progress you’ve made and then do it again if you want to go further. It is so funny to watch! You love to play, especially with toys that crinkle and make noise. You love Squishy Turtle (a book with crinkly pages), Chicken and Elephant, and rattles the most. You still love your playmat too. You grab things with your feet so we think you're a little monkey.
We decided to feed you some solid foods this month so you have now tried bananas and avocados. You love them both! When you're ready for another bite, you say "Ahhhhhh" until we give you one. You keep trying to grab the spoon too which makes quite a mess. One time, you got really mad at daddy whenever he tried to take the spoon away. He thought it was really cute because you wanted more but didn’t understand that the spoon needed to be reloaded. | You are very responsive now so you'll laugh or giggle when we make faces. You think it's so funny when mommy and daddy "eat" your tummy or your toes. The biggest change this month was we moved into a new house so you have your own room now. You've been great about sleeping in your big girl crib all night.
6 MONTHS OLD | You were "inching" last month, and now you're almost crawling! It was a very gradual change, but you're using your arms and legs to get around now. It's not technically crawling until you pick your belly up off of the floor, but you're certainly able to get around! | Due to your new mobility, the playmat doesn't interest you much anymore. Your favorite toys now are things that light up and make noise. | You have a specific admiration for electronics, especially the TV remote, iPhones, laptops, and the iPad. You love to play with your O-ball and the pool splash balls. When they roll away, you like to chase after them. Another toy you like is a snail that rolls away. When you catch up yo it, you like to knock it over and spin it around.
It's safe to say that your favorite activity this month is jumping in your jumperoo. This month, you started learning the different functions of different things. You know that you’re supposed to spin the gecko, grab the dragonfly, turn the pages of your book, etc. It’s amazing how much you’ve already learned. You are very interactive now. When we make a face at you, you’ll make a face back. You like to laugh and giggle a lot too. You are able to stand and take a few steps just holding onto someone’s fingers. You are also really good at sitting up now! You sat up for more than 5 minutes straight today!
7 MONTHS OLD | You have become so mobile this month! You're army crawling all over the place, but you are able to pop up onto your hands and knees now. You will be crawling pretty soon. You can pull yourself up on things too, so we often find you standing in your crib. You really enjoy new things. Your favorite toy this month was flip flops. You like toys that make a lot of noise and that you can bang on things. Your stacking cups are your favorite "actual" toy right now. The jumperoo brings a lot of joy to you as well.. You've become very vocal this month, screaming, squealing, laughing, and giggling all the time. You babble "mama" and "dada" but | you don't know what they mean yet. You're able to point now and you are using sign language to tell me when you want milk! You think so many things are funny and spend most of your time smiling and laughing.
YES, I HAVE A GREAT SMILE! | WHEN DO I GET MY OWN PHONE? | hAHAHA! | lIFE'S PRETTY GOOD
 8 MONTHS OLD
You started crawling! That is definitely your biggest accomplishment this month; you are getting faster and faster. Mommy was watching someone else’s cats when you decided you wanted to pet one of them. Next thing I knew, you had crawled 8 feet to reach the cat! You have just started taking tiny steps while holding onto things as well. Our little explorer! | While you haven’t technically started talking, you have been saying a lot of consonant sounds and syllables. You spent three days saying “mamamamama” all day long. You have said “dadadada” as well, but “mama” is easier for you. We have continued working on sign language this month, and you have actually signed “milk” to me! You also wave your whole arm when you are saying “hello” or “goodbye”. One of your favorite things to do now is listen to music! We went to Nashville for a long weekend and heard some live Bluegrass. Not only did you like listening to it, but you tried to sing along, and you DANCED too! You were doing a little jig in your highchair. One of your favorite activities is to jump in the doorway jumper while listening to bluegrass.
9 MONTHS OLD | This month, you are pulling up on EVERYTHING! You still crawl, but only to get to something you can pull yourself up on. A few times, you let go of what you were holding onto and stood by yourself for a split second. The longest you have “stood” is about 2 seconds.
As always, you love to play with your toys. A few days ago, you figured out how to put the ball on the ramp so that it will roll down. You’re so smart! You still like your jumper a lot, but you prefer the doorway jumper to the rainforest jumperoo. You have little piston legs so you can jump almost a foot high. I’m afraid you’ll fly out of that thing one day. You still do quite a bit of babbling this month. You have mastered certain syllables like mama and dada. You like to say “yeah” a lot and you still really enjoy screaming and squealing. You don’t really sign milk anymore, but you are starting to understand that you can use your hands to communicate. You point at a lot of things and wave your whole arm to wave "bye-bye". It’s very cute. This month, you started feeding yourself puffs and cheerios! You grab them with your finger and your thumb and then put your whole hand in your mouth to eat them. You're such a silly girl!
10 MONTHS OLD | You have figured out how to stand for a very long time and even dance a little! You cruise really well now and you crawl really quickly. You like to climb things too so we have to watch you very carefully. The biggest thing this month though is you finally got a tooth! Your first tooth broke through a few days before you turned 10 months old. Your sweet toothless grin is turning into an adorable toddler grin. | You have started waving correctly this month. When we feed you, we always say “last bite” and then “all gone” and make the sign for being finished. You tried to make the sign with us and ended up waving bye-bye to your food. Now you do it almost every time you eat. It is so cute! You started clapping this month too, but you only did it for about a week.
Your favorite things to do this month are scream, squeal, and babble. You point at a lot of things in order to communicate too though, and you also started giving us high fives this month. We love the fact that you are becoming so interactive.
11 MONTHS OLD | You are a very mobile baby these days. You’ve learned how to stand for long periods of time and you even took a step! You only take 1 step before squatting or sitting down, but you can definitely take 1 step. You usually step with your left foot, but you used your right foot one time. You’re great at cruising now and you crawl at hyper speed. You're on the move! You said your first word this month! You saw Sugar, pointed at her, and said “Kidee!” You babble and say “Bweeee” a lot, although we don't know what it means. We can see you start to understand things we’re saying as well.. Watching you learn is amazing.
You have a baby hairbrush that you started brushing your own hair with the other day. I asked you if you want to brush my hair and you did! Daddy and I are constantly amazed by all the new things you can do. You got a second tooth this month and are eating a lot more finger foods. Bananas are the easiest for you to eat but you’ll eat just about anything we give you. You have become so sweet and cuddly this month too. You like to give us hugs and lay your head on us. There are a lot of times that you’d rather lay on the couch and cuddle with mommy instead of play. You're momma's little love bug.
