Hello, We hope that after looking through our book and getting a glimpse into our lives that you will give us the honor of adopting your child. We have enough love in our hearts and a deep desire to be the best parents possible. We promise you that we will love and support him/her every day of their life. Our job will always be to guide and help him/her be a successful and fulfilled member of society. We will be supportive and active in every aspect of his/her life. Whether it is supporting their activity in sports, dance, music, or whatever it may be. We will be there to cheer them on and tell him/her how amazing and special they are. We will also be supportive in the decision to march to the beat of their own drummer, be proud of who they are and where they came from. We will encourage higher education any way possible. However, if their dream and ambition is in a different direction, we will support them in that too. Lastly, they will always know that you are an amazing woman. You gave us the most precious gift that anyone could ask for and that all the love you had for him/her will always live inside their heart along with ours. Sincerely, Burt and Kris
Our Story | Mizzou Football Game | Autism Speaks Walk | Our Wedding | Christmas Eve at Dickens Village
Our first date was to a hockey game with a group of friends. Kris paid for the shuttle ride and from that moment on it was true love. We got engaged at a local winery with both of our moms and Kris' sister there to share the day with us. Fast forward one year to the day, we were married in front of all our friends and family. We decided that the best way to start our marriage was with the traditional “high-five”. The picture above captures and expresses who we are as a couple. We enjoy being with one another, both of us have a good sense of humor, plus we love and respect each other. We take each day as a new adventure and look forward to every new experience that comes our way.

When I was growing up, I lived on 10 acres in Michigan. I loved being able to run around, play in the woods and ride 4-wheelers. When I was nine, my sister Beth was born. My parents have been married for 35 years and have an amazing relationship together. My parents encouraged us to try different sport activities until we found our favorite activity. This is also something we plan on doing as parents. Growing up I always knew that I wanted to work with people. When I started college, I thought that meant being a teacher. During a substitute teaching position, I worked in a classroom of students who were autistic. I had an instant connection and knew that I had found the path that I was destined follow. I am currently a Residential Manager overseeing group homes for individuals with autism. Part of my job is to ensure that the clients in my homes taken care of and that all of their needs are being met. Knowing that I am making a difference in someone else's life every day means a lot to me. This position also allows me to have quite a bit of flexibility when it comes to my schedule. This would allow me to schedule my workday around a child and their needs. | All About Kris...
All About Burt... | I am the youngest of seven children; I have four older sisters and two older brothers. There are 12 years between my bother and I, so I grew up like an only child. Between my siblings, there are six nephews and seven nieces | I grew up on my dad's small family farm. We had cows, mules, pigs, dogs, cats, and horses. After high school I earned a degree from Missouri State University. I currently work as a Manufacturing Engineer at a factory that makes refrigerator valves for grocery stores. In my spare time, I like to be outside. I enjoy playing golf, softball, and helping on the family farm. I also like to do home improvement projects. | Ride Burt, Ride!

 Bella | Zeppelin
Our Day To Day Life...... We live in a three bedroom house in the suburbs. We selected this house because it is in one of the best school districts in the state of Missouri. We have a big back yard that is fenced in and has space for a swing set, sand box, and a tree house. Our two dogs, Bella and Zeppelin both love to play in the yard and chase squirrels (don't worry they never have any luck catching the squirrels). There are three parks within walking distance to our house and we are less than a mile away from the community center and public library. Most nights we make dinner together, Kris finds new recipes for us to try every week. When the weather is nice, we like to sit outside and play with the dogs. We have a swing that we enjoy sitting on, when Zeppelin will allow us to use it.
Aunt Kris and Amber | "Captain" Kris
Why Kris will be a good Mom | Kris is caring, loving and generous to everyone in her life, be it family, friends, animals and those she supports at work. She lives life with an energy and spirit unlike anyone I have ever met. I remember being at a friends Christmas party when I saw Kris holding a baby across the room. I saw her smiling and singing to him and knew one day she would be both a great wife and mother. Two weeks after that party we started dating and I have been in love with her ever since. You can always find Kris hanging out with the kids when we are at family gatherings or with friends. She is an awesome aunt enjoys taking our nieces to get their nails done and going to our nephews sporting events. Ellie is our four-year-old neighbor, who as aspergers syndrome. They have a special bond that is a thing of magic to watch with my wife. I look forward to seeing the bond and love Kris will have with our children.
The first time I heard Burt talking about his dad I knew he was going to be an amazing father one day. Burt was living on the other side of the state (Missouri) with a job that he loved. He dad was battling cancer and needed more help with each passing day. Burt found a job closer to his parent's home. He sold his house and moved back home without being asked. He helped his mom take care of his dad and assisted in his daily care. I don't know many twenty something men who would give up their bachelorhood to move back home to an ailing parent. Tom, Burt’s dad, passed away a few months before we met, but I know that during that time Burt truly became the man he is today. During our struggles with infertility, Burt has been the rock that we both needed. He is always there to look on the bright side. He is warm, loving, and compassionate and has the most giving heart of anyone I have ever met. He is truly a great partner to have. I see the way he loves others and me in his life and know that being a dad will just propel that love to a new level. | Why Burt will be a good Dad

Easter Egg Hunt | Christmas Jammies | Burt's Family Traditions Easter is a time when all of my siblings and their families travel back to Missouri to celebrate the holiday. The tradition starts the day before when all my nieces and nephews get together and color Easter eggs. Last year, Kris found a way to dye eggs with old silk ties; the kids loved coloring eggs this way. On Easter morning, we all go to church together. After church, we head back to the farm and have lunch. After lunch, the kids have an egg hunt. They love that Kris added the tradition of hiding money in plastic eggs like her aunt did when she was little. | Kris' Family Traditions Christmas has always been a special time for our family. Each year we would select a country and follow their holiday traditions (food, games and decorations). Our family gets together on Christmas Eve; we have a big dinner, exchange gifts, and reminisce about old stories. Last Christmas, we bought Burt special Christmas pajamas (he wasn't willing to wear the matching ones Beth and I sported)! Christmas morning we wake up, we open gifts and my mom makes us a big breakfast to start celebrating the day. After church, we go to my grandmother and grandfather’s house and spend the day with my aunt, uncles and cousins (and of course, we have another big dinner).
