Maddie Year 1 - Page Text Content

S: Maddie Year 1

BC: One year ago today I was sitting in the hospital scared out of my mind because my little babe was coming almost 6 weeks early. She came out perfect, happy and healthy. She has been such a blessing to Dan and I and I could not be more in love. Anyone who does not believe in Jesus/God just needs to spend a minute with my Squish and they will understand. She is amazing and I love her more each day. Love Mom......and Dad!too!!

FC: Maddie Year 1 | Our journey with squish | Our Baby Girl

This book is dedicated to Maddelynn Marie Mades. This is her story form birth to age one.

Mommy and Maddie looking at each other for the first time.

Maddelynn Marie Mades was born December 28th, 2009 at 6:26 am. For being born 6 weeks early she was very big for her age. She weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces and was 19 and half inches long.

 Maddie's First Bath

Cute as a button | After we got home Mom had to give Maddie her first bath. I am not sure who was more terrified, mom or her. She screamed the entire time, and I am not going to lie, Mom shed a tear or two also. They both made it through and bath time, and it eventually became one of Maddie's favorite things to do.

We spent the next few days meeting Grandmas and Grandpas...

 and aunts and uncles

We did great when it was just Mom and Maddie | After two months of being with us Mom decided we should have Maddie's first photo shoot at home.

Then later that day we took Maddie to Sears for her first professional photo shoot, and as you can see she started out ok, but by the middle of the shoot Maddie decided she was done.

Over the next few months Maddie Grew so fast. Most of the time was spent sleeping and hanging out with mom and Dad | Maddie already four months old...

Maddie enjoying her first easter in a beautiful new dress

Over Memorial Day weekend Squish, Mommy, Daddy and Grandma and Grandpa went on Squish's first Zoo adventure. She loved the monkeys and the Zebra's the best. It was about 90 degrees so I thought we would have a crabby baby but she did great!!!

 Clowning around at grandma's

 Maddie hanging out at home

Father's day with Dad and Grandpas

We had such a FUN 4th of July weekend with Mama P and family, and my Schimbeno family. Maddie had a lot of firsts, first boat ride, first time in the lake, first 4th of July boat parade, first time being away from home for the night, first time in a hotel, first time around most of the Schimbeno's, and first time playing in the sand (eating sand.) She was so good for the most part, but towards the end of the day on the 4th she had pretty much had it and started to get fussy.

We started out the weekend with Mama P and her family. They were so nice to invite us to come and visit and we had so much fun going out on their HUGE boat; it was Maddie's first time. She did NOT like being in the life jacket, but once the boat started moving she fell right asleep. She lasted out on the water for about 40 minutes before she got fussy and we headed back.

Giving kisses was one of new things we learned during the summer, and even though they were a little messy they were the best presents mom and dad could have gotten.

Spending time at the park with mom and dad also became one of our favorite summer activities

Maddie's first visit to Worthington | During one of the last weekends before the end of the summer we traveled down to southern Minnesota, cow country, as I like to call it. Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Schim live down there we missed their 60th wedding anniversary so we decided to go and visit this weekend when Aunt Turi was free. She did so well in the car, she slept half-way there on Friday and then talked and giggled with me and Turi the rest of the way there. !!!!

At dinner, she was sitting in the highchair and her eyes started to get heavy because she was tired, all of a sudden she bobbed her head and bonked it on the table, not hard enough to wake her up, but hard enough to make us laugh. Dan had to run out to the parking lot and get the stroller and she slept in that until we put her in the car to go back to Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa's house.

 Maddie at 8 months.

Who says you cant take the city girl to the Farm? | Auntie Turi, Grandma, Mommy, Daddy and Maddie went to the apple orchard and had so much fun. Squish loved looking at the goats and sitting on the hay, although she tried to eat it every time we walked away to take the picture; Daddy finally had to sit with her on his lap.

It was such a beautiful day we kept having to shed layers because we were all sweating! I love that it is so warm out in the state of Minnesota in October...Now if it could just remain this warm throughout the whole winter I would be in heaven.!

For the big day in October she wore Tinkerbell, I feel like you will all agree that she is hands down the cutest Tinkerbell that ever was.

 Thanksgiving in South Dakota

For Thanksgiving this year we went out to South Dakota to celebrate thanksgiving and Great grandma and Grandpa Schimbino's 60th wedding anniversary. Well, it was a long drive (although Maddie did MUCH better than I thought she would.) But we made it there and back with little/no incidents in driving; On the way back there was a close call with my parents car and a deer. We had so much fun visiting with family that we never/hardly never see. It was really nice to be able to see everyone again-and I met one of my cousins kiddos for the first time. He and his brother and my other cousins children are SOOO well behaved. I seriously hope that Squish is that good in large group situations as she gets older. Although, not to toot our own horn, she did GREAT this weekend. She napped when she needed it, and was smiling and giggling 95 of the time.

Mom and Dad hadn't been out to Mt. Rushmore since they were in college and it was fun memories being there again

Maddie's favorite activity that we did was the polar express train ride and Mt Rushmore she couldn't decide. We rode the train out through the mountains and came to an open space, the north pole, that was decorated with lights and then Santa came out of his "house" and waved. He then boarded the train and gave all the kids bells, just like in the book, We all got hot chocolate and sugar cookies delicious!!! | The Polar Express Train ride with Santa | Baby Girl

Well we did Squish's first of three Christmas celebrations today...she equally loved the bows, wrapping paper and presents so I think it was a success. She was a little overwhelmed by the end however and took a while to fall asleep. But what a trooper. I cannot believe that we are only 9 days away from her 1st birthday. WOW! Anyway back to Christmas, it was so fun to see her get into ripping the paper and pulling the presents out, now if only I could get her to tell me what Daddy bought me... | Merry Christmas

Christmas at both Grandparents houses was great. | Mom and Dad were real happy that Grandma and Grandpa bought Maddie her first car.

We headed for Florida right after Christmas to enjoy the nice tropical sun. The plane ride down was a little ruff but we started having fun the minute we got off the plane | Grandma and mommy and Squish went out for breakfast while Dad and Grandpa went golfing, We are enjoying the beautiful weather sitting outside at the restaurant,

What a beautiful day it was outside! We were able to go down to the beach and play, we even were able to take off our sweatshirts...YEAH! Squish seriously dug the sand, and kept trying to eat it. Then she got super mad when Mom tried to take it out of her mouth. I guess she is getting to be more like her mother everyday; willing to eat anything :) !

Celebrating ONE YEAR OLD | The big 1 year old birthday came while we were in Florida. We bought a small cake and you can see the progression. However for her big bash, it was a little different......

We started out not felling so good about having cake. Mom said that She started crying because there were 30+people singing to her and she was a little overwhelmed. After Mom took some of the frosting off the cake though she began to dig in a really enjoyed herself. !!
