About Our Family | Dear Jonah, We are so excited to welcome you into our family and to get to know you. We are already so in love with you, and know you will be a very good child and grow into a fine young man. Mommy & Daddy started dating after being friends for a long time, and continue to be best friends. We can't wait to invite you into our friendship and enjoy your added company as we make memories together! With love, Mommy & Daddy
Our Babymoon | Shortly after we announced your life had begun in mommy's belly, mom & dad took a vacation with Nana and Grandpa George to Hawaii to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary and our joyous news!
Hawaii, May 2010 | It was a lot of fun and we were excited to see a little bit of a "baby bump" by the end of the trip.

Even though baby showers are supposed to be for ladies, Uncle Jeff & Uncle Jim couldn't pass up a good Italian meal. So they came to keep dad company and to take photos and video of the day. It was a lot of fun having them there! And Aunt Gwen made a fun game with the letters of your nickname, "Baby Daug" | Opening gifts at the shower

Grandma Kay bought your furniture, which Daddy assembled with great care. We had so much fun putting your room together!
Progress | By the end of the weekend Daddy had built all of the furniture for your room as well as assembled the stroller. We loved how the furniture looked in your room!

Progress | Baby Shower #2 | Mommy's friends Melody, Lanie and Lynda threw us another shower in San Jose, so our friends and family in California could also celebrate the life of Baby Daug. The shower was held at Left Bank, a French restaurant on Santana Row. It was a very special treat and a very special day!

Miss Sandra & Miss Edith took on throwing a shower for us to celebrate with the families from the dance studio. All of the dance students and parents were anticipating your arrival! | GDA November 7th, 2010 | Baby Shower #3
This shower was also very special; many moms and students who helped mom start her dance studio were there and made beautiful homemade gifts, and also bought some very nice gifts to help us take care of you.

Aunt Jody helped us with decorating your room. We were so tickled with the puppy dog theme, and so much enjoyed creating a space for you to play in and call your own. Once the room was finished, we were very anxious to have you come! | November 13th, 2010
the waiting game | By 37 weeks, mommy was really hoping you would come earlier than your due date. We were anxious to meet you, and both Mommy & Daddy arranged to take time off work to spend the whole month with you. But, you really liked it in Mom's belly! Our due date came and went, and you were still snuggled safely in the womb. Mommy's feet swelled and you liked to kick her in the ribs when you got excited. We decided we needed to help you along a little bit so you could make your debut!

Mommy's Memories | I wanted so bad to tell everyone as soon as we found out we were pregnant, it was hard to keep it a secret for as long as we did. I anticipated being able to feel you move, and I cried the first time I knew I felt you. We were sitting on the couch and suddenly I felt your little feet under my belly. Daddy and I had a special time talking to you that night. Fairly early on both Dad and I had a feeling you were a boy. When we went in for the ultrasound to tell us for sure, the ultrasound tech was surprised we were so sure of ourselves and were right! I remember trying to decide on a name for you, wanting you to be unique but to have a strong and meaningful name. Once we decided on Jonah it felt very natural to call you by your name, and towards the end it got very hard to keep it a secret before you were born! Decorating your room was so much fun. I also wanted to get our Christmas decor up before you came so we would be able to bring you home to a beautiful and fun place for the holidays. I worked hard to get all our shopping and baking done in time for your arrival. The first time I actually felt a body part of yours was driving home from some friends' home. I think it was your foot, right between my ribs, I was excited but it also hurt a bit! By the 3rd trimester you were so long that your head was pushing down and your feet pushing up all the time. Besides being so excited to meet you, I was looking forward to having you outside my belly and have a little relief. You loved music, often when I would be teaching dance you would move with me especially if the music had a good beat. You especially liked the tap classes! When I went to see the Nutcracker the day after you were due, you bounced around to the orchestra music the whole night.
Daddy's Memories | I remember when we had our first ultrasound appointment at the doctor's office. We saw a picture of you for the first time inside of Mommy's belly. You were the size of a bug (or maybe something even smaller) and the picture was kind of grainy but we could clearly see your head, arms and legs. As we walked out of the office I remember thinking about how much I loved you right then, not because of anything you had done or said but just because you were you. When you were that small the doctor couldn't see if you were a boy or a girl yet. I remembered an old "ring on a string" trick I had read about somewhere to tell which you were. We held the string up to Mommy's belly and each time it swung back and forth in a line, the sign of a boy. "It's a boy!" I said to Mommy, and confirmed the hunch she already had. I thought about all the fun things a Daddy can do with his son and it made me smile really big. Right before you were born you were getting pretty big inside of Mommy and we were trying everything to coax you to the outside world. Mommy ate spicy foods, visited the acupuncturist, drank herbal tonics and even played a silly game at a Christmas party where she had to shake ping-pong balls out of a tissue box tied around her waist.
