2: Chapter 1 Mom's Recipes

3: Vodka Sauce | Ingredients 1 Pint Cherry or Grapevine Tomatoes Diced 3 Cloves of Garlic Sliced Thin 1 cup Onion (red) 1/2 cup of chopped basil 1 tbsp. oregeno 1/2 cup parsley 1 tbsp. capers 1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes 1/2-1 cup of vodka 8 oz. tomato sauce 1/2 cup cream cheese 1/2 cup half and half 1/4 cup calamata linguine or angel hair pasta | Directions Saute tomatoes, onions, 1/2 lb. prosciutto ham and garlic until the onions and garlic are translucent. Add the seasoning, vodka, and tomato sauce and simmer for 30 minutes. Add 1/2 cup of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of half-half, and optional 1/4 cup calamata black olives. Simmer an additional 20 minutes. Serve over linguine or angel hair.

4: Meatloaf | 2 lbs. ground round pound of pork ground 1 cup bread crumbs 2 slices of white bread crumbed up 1 cup steak sauce 1 tsp. salt and 1 tsp. pepper 3 eggs Mix all ingredients in large bowl. Form a loaf in casserole dish with ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour until brown. Cover top of loaf with ketchup during the last 10 minutes so that it thickens.

5: Peas and Mushrooms Side Dish | 1 can of Peas 2 cups of fresh mushrooms Sautee 1 tsp. of crushed garlic (2 cloves), coat the bottom of pan with olive oil, add peas once pan is hot and sautee for 10 minutes, add mushrooms and cook until soft.. if peas start to dry out add cup of chicken broth Serves 4

6: Pot Roast | 3-4 lbs. chuck roast Let the roast get to room temperature. Add 1 cup flour to a bowl tsp. of garlic powder, salt, paprika, pepper add to flour Roll the roast in the flour until covered. Sear the roast in olive oil on all sides. Preheat oven to 350. | Add roast to casserole with a cup of beef broth, 2 tbsp. of white or apple cider vinegar, slice 2 onions and add to casserole, Cook for 35 minutes with tinfoil covering it. Add 3 peeled and quartered potatoes and baby carrots, 2 cups of broth, sprinkle tsp. pepper, paprika, and salt over vegetables. Cover with tinfoil and cook another 1 -2 hours longer at 300 degrees.

7: Chapter 2 Dad's Recipes

8: Nantucket Scallop Soup | Ingredients: 2 cups bottle of clam Juice 2 cups milk, scalded 2 cups peeled, diced red potatoes 1 cup chopped onions 2 cloves garlic minced 1 bay leaf 1/2 pound bay scallops 1/3 cup chopped carrot 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/3 cup finely chopped scallions Directions: In a medium sauce pan, combine clam juice, milk, potatoes, onion, garlic, and bay leaf. Bring to a simmer, cover pan and cook until potatoes are tender, about 30 minutes. Pour soup through stainer and remove bay leaf. Mash cooked veggies through strainer and return to pot. Bring soup to a boil, reduce heat and simmer. Add scallops, carrot, salt, pepper and cook 5 minutes. Serve and sprinkle scallions on top.

9: Squash | Slice 6-7 squash up and add to pan. Add a half stick of butter and cook squash down. Stir in 1/2 -1 container of sourcream. Yummy!!

10: Grilled Grouper | Directions: Lay fillets out on a plate, sprinkle generously with garlic salt and parsley (coat fully). Sprinkle generously with black pepper. Sprinkle lightly with paprika. Barely sprinkle with Cheyenne Pepper. Heat butter in a skillet on high until almost brown, then drop the fillets in seasoning down. Sear for 1 minute. Turn the heat down to Med High or Med and cook for 5 more minutes. Season the other side of the fish while it is cooking. Turn the heat back up and turn the fillets over in the pan and sear. Put several big drops of lemon juice on them while they are searing. Turn the heat down to med or med low for 5 min., sprinkle with (fresh not dry) Parmesan cheese. Let the cheese melt, then serve. | Ingredients: Butter Lemon Juice Parmesan cheese (optional) Garlic Salt Grouper Parsley Paprika Cheyenne Pepper Black Pepper

11: "When baking, follow directions. When cooking, go by your own taste." ~Laiko Bahrs | Spaghetti Lasagna | Ingredients: 1.5 lbs. of ground beef 1 large jar of spaghetti sauce 2/3 box of spaghetti noodles 1 large container of ricotta cheese 1 bag of shredded mozzerella cheese 2/3 container of fresh sliced mushrooms (optional) | Thoroughly cook ground beef in frying pan. Strain well. on Med/High. Mix the ground beef and sauce together in pan, season with italian blend of spices, salt, garlic salt, and pepper. Simmer for 2-3 minutes on low. Simutaneosly lightly boil noodles in seperate pan for 5 min. Using a large casserole dish, layer the sauce,then the noodles, and then the ricotta cheese. Repeat. Cover the top entirely with mozzerella cheese. Bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes. Serves 4-6 people.

13: Chow-Chow | Green Tomatoes Cabbage Onions Bell Pepper Hot Pepper (optional) salt and vinegar red tomatoes or red bell peppers for color | Grind tomatoes and measure. Grind cabbage and measure, should be a little over 2/3 the amount of tomatoes. Grind onions, should be almost 1/3 the amount of cabbage. Grind bell peppers, should be half the amount of onions. Grind hot pepper to taste. Put in pan, add salt and vinegar to taste. Cook until cabbage is white and it taste done. Can it while it is real hot.

14: Chapter 4 Grandpa LaChance's Recipes

15: 1 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup corn syrup 1 1/2 cup melted butter 4 eggs 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 cup milk 3 cups self rising flour | Add sugar to mixing bowl, pour melted butter over the top of the sugar and add corn syrup, nutmeg, milk, and eggs. Mix together, then add flour in slowly. Blend with mixer until lumps are gone. Grease 2 10" cake pans with oil and sprinkle flour on the bottom to prevent sticking. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Test by sticking a fork in. | Nun Cake

16: Grandpa LaChance | Danielle Hunter | 1 lb. beef cut in cubes Roll beef in flour and seer it. Add to 3 quart pot along with 1 medium onion chopped, 1 stalk of celery diced, tsp. of salt and pepper, 1 can beef broth, 1 can of peas, corn, and tomatoes. Bring to boil and lower temperature, let simmer for about an hour. Add water as necessary to retain soup consistency. | Vegetable Beef Soup

17: Meat Pie | 5 lbs. hamburger 5 lbs. fresh pork cup fresh sage diced or 1tbsp. of dried sage 8 diced/cubed potatoes 4 med. onions diced 1/8 tsp. red pepper (optional) 1-2 cups chicken broth Cook meat and drain fat and grease. Add onions and cook until they are translucent. Add potatoes and chicken broth as needed so the ingredients don't dry out. Cook until done. Put in pie shells and bake at 350 degrees for 45 min. to 1 hour

18: Chapter 5 Grandma Hunter's Recipes

19: Ingredients: 4-5 Potatoes sliced thinly 1/2 lb.s bacon diced 1 cup onion Salt Pepper Paprika | German Potatoes | Directions: Add potatoes, bacon, and onion to frying pan, cook on high-medium. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook until potatoes are done.

20: Tacos | 5 lbs. ground chuck 2 packages of taco seasoning 2 tbsp. chili powder 1/4 tsp. cumin Cook ground chuck, drain half of the grease and add 1/2 cup water. Let cook on low. Serve with lettuce, taco shells, tomatoes, sour cream and cheese.

21: Chapter 6 Grandma LaChance's Recipes

22: Fried Chicken | Cut a whole chicken into 4, salt and pepper. Prepare 1 bowl of flour and 1 bowl with 2 eggs and cup of milk. Dunk chicken in the eggs and then into the flour. Place chicken in a skillet and fry on med/high. Once browned, take chicken out of fryer and place on paper towels to soak up grease. Lay chicken on a perforated baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

23: Apple Pie | 5 medium apples (slice and peel) Pre-made pie crust cup sugar 1-2 tbsp. of cinnamon 1 tbsp. flour stick butter (melted) Mix apples with sugar in mixing bowl and add to pie. Cover the apple/sugar mix with cinnamon. In a separate bowl mix flour and water until pasty. Layer the flour mixture on top of the apples. Pour melted butter on top of pie mixture. Add pie crust to the top and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

24: Name | Chocolate-Chip Cookies | Ingredients: 2 1/4 cup flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1 cup 2 sticks) butter softened 3/4 cup granulated sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 large eggs 1 1/2- 2 cups (12 oz. pkg.) Nestle Toll House | Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla seperate. Slowly combine with the remaining ingredients in large mixing bowl. Bake 9-11 minutes.

25: Chapter 7 Elicia and Gregory's Recipes

26: Chicken Marsala | Ingredients: 2 Chicken Breast 1 pkg. white mushrooms cup flour 1 tsp. salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, oregano 1 cup marsala wine 1 cup chicken broth 6 oz. angel hair pasta 1 tbsp. butter | Directions: Combine seasoning and flour in bowl. Dip in chicken breast and fully coat each side. Fry chicken in olive oil on med/high for 4 minutes. Remove chicken breasts from pan and place on plate. Add mushrooms and butter to pan and cook thoroughly. Add chicken broth and cook 1-2 minutes. Add Marsala and cook 1-2 minutes. Add chicken and continue cooking on med/high for 3 min. In separate pot cook pasta for 8-10 minutes.

27: Tuna Casserole | 2 cans tuna 1 can of cream of chicken or mushroom soup can of milk 2 tablespoons of Mayo 1-2 cups of peas 2-3 tbsp. of parmesan cheese 3 cups of COOKED elbow noodles Lightly season with salt, pepper, garlic salt, and celery salt. Combine together in 9x13” baking pan Cover top with Shredded Cheese and French Onion | 350 | 30 min. | Elicia

28: Sangria: 1 bottle of red wine (full-bodied) 1/2 liter of lemon lime soda 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup Bacardi Rum 1 lime 1 orange 1 apple 1 pear Slice and deseed fruit. Mix ingredients in large pitcher and refrigerate for 2-3 hours. Serves 4-6.

29: 2 cups white sugar 1 cup butter 1/2 cup cocoa powder 1 tsp. vanilla extract 4 eggs 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt | Melt the butter or margarine and mix all ingredients in the order given. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 to 30 minutes in a 9 x 13 inch greased pan | Chapter 8 Samantha's Recipes | Brownies
