1: I can't believe you're getting married! Now, to teach you to cook-- Great recipes for a great friend!

2: *Ingredients: -6 large potatoes -I can cream of celery soup -steamed broccoli florets (optional) -parsley flakes -1 onion, chopped -3/4 C. Velveeta cheese -salt & pepper to taste | Potato Soup | *Instructions: -Peel & cut potatoes into small pieces, sprinkle with S&P & put in large soup pot. -Add onions & water until covered. Cook until done (not mushy). -Sprinkle with parsley flakes, stir in cream of celery & heat thoroughly. -Cut cheese into small pieces & add. Turn off heat and stir until cheese melts. -Stir in broccoli as cheese melts, if desired. | From the Kitchen of Stefanie Phillips | Potato Soup

3: Chicken Tetrazzini Courtesy of Stefanie Phillips | Ingredients: 1 stick butter (melted) 16 oz. sour cream 3-4 boneless chicken breasts 2 cans cream of mushroom soup 2 cans sliced mushrooms (or fresh) 7 oz. pasta Parmesan cheese | Directions: Cook & cube chicken. Cut pasta into bite sized pieces- cook & drain. Combine all ingredients, except cheese, in casserole dish. Top with cheese & cover. Bake @ 350 for 1 hour.

5: Mississippi Sin Courtesy of Anna Rowlen 1 loaf French Bread 1 1/2 cups sour cream 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese 8 oz. Cream cheese 1/3 cup chopped green onions 1/2 cup chopped ham 1/3 cup green chilies Dash of worcestershire sauce Slice bread; hollow out bottom. Mix all other ingredients. Put mix in hollow bread. Put top back on bread. Wrap in foil. Bake at 350 for 1 hour and serve with Fritos

6: Chicken Taco Soup 3-4 chicken breasts 1 envelope ranch dressing mix 1 envelope taco seasoning mix 1 medium onion, diced 1/2 jar salsa (or 1 can diced tomatoes) 1 can black beans 1 can any white beans 1 can kidney beans (or pinto) 1 can vegetarian baked beans 1 can kernel corn Directions: Put everything in crockpot in order listed. Do NOT rinse or drain beans. Do NOT stir. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Take chicken out and shred with two forks. Put chicken back in, stir, and eat. 7: Paula Deen's Yummy Chicken Soup Courtesy of Jess Norburg | Stock: 1 (2 to 3-lb.) fryer chicken, cut up 3 qts water 1 onion, peeled & diced 1 to 2 tsp. Italian seasoning 1 tsp. lemon-pepper seasoning 3 cloves garlic, minced 4 bay leaves 3 chicken bouillon cubes Salt & pepper Soup: 2 C. sliced carrots 2 C. sliced celery, with leafy green tops 1 C. uncooked egg noodles 1 C. sliced mushrooms 3 Tb. chopped fresh parsley leaves 1/3 C. cooking sherry 2 tsp. chopped fresh rosemary leaves 1 C. grated Parmesan, optional 3/4 C. heavy cream, optional Seasoning salt Pepper Crusty French bread, for serving | Directions: For stock: Add all ingredients to a soup pot. Cook until chicken is tender (35-45 mins). Remove chicken from pot & set aside to cool. Remove & discard bay leaves and onion. You should have approx. 3 quarts of stock. When chicken is cool, pick bones clean, discarding bones, skin & cartilage. Set chicken aside. For soup: Bring stock back to a boil, add carrots, cook for 3 mins. Add celery & continue to cook for 5-10 mins. Add egg noodles & cook according to directions on package. When noodles are done, add chicken, mushrooms, parsley, sherry & rosemary. Add Parmesan & cream, if using. Cook another 2 mins. Add salt & pepper to taste. Enjoy along with a nice hot crusty loaf of French bread. | "Never leave or go to bed mad at one another, always talk it out & remember that making up is the best part of any argument. 8: Poppy Seed Chicken Courtesy of Mary Bracken | Directions: Combine chicken, soup, sour cream & poppy seeds in bowl, stir. Pour mixture into the bottom of 11x7" greased casserole dish. In a small bowl, combine crumbled crackers & melted butter. Pour over chicken & bake for 35-40 min. or until bubbly. Serve over rice. | Ingredients: 3 C. chopped, cooked chicken breasts 1 can cream of chicken soup 8-10 oz. of sour cream 3 teaspoons poppy seeds 1/4 C. butter, melted 1 sleeve Ritz crackers, crumbled | Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Courtesy of Mary Bracken | Ingredients: 4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 1/2 C. ketchup 1/2 tsp. worcestershire sauce 1 tsp. mustard 1/2 C. crushed pineapple w/juice 1/2 C. brown sugar | Directions: Place chicken in bottom of slow-cooker. In bowl, combine remaining ingredients & pour sauce over chicken. Cook for 4-6 hrs on low. If you don't have time for the crockpot version, cook in a 350 degree oven for 45 mins. Serve over rice.

9: Apple Pork Loin Courtesy of Lauren Pittman | Ingredients: 2 lbs of pork loin 1 medium sweet potato 1 medium red onion 1 medium Granny Smith apple 1/2 C. golden raisins 2 Tb. dark brown sugar 1 Tb. apple cider vinegar Salt & pepper garlic powder white rice | Directions: Peel the sweet potato & cut into cubes. Chop red onion. Peel & slice apple. Lay pork loin in the bottom of crockpot. Season meat with a little bit of salt, pepper & garlic powder. Throw all ingredients into the crockpot! Cook on low for 6-8 hrs, or on high for about 4 hrs. Pour over rice!! :) YUM!

10: Rebekah Walter | Oven Roasted Cauliflower | Ingredients: 5-6 C. cut cauliflower florets 1/4 C. olive oil 1 Tb. sliced garlic 2 Tb. lemon juice Salt & pepper 2 Tb. grated parmesan cheese | 500 degrees | 6-8 servings | Bake 15 mins. | Place cauliflower in roasting pan, drizzle olive oil over the top, season with garlic, lemon juice, salt & pepper. Bake for 15 mins., stirring occasionally. Remove from oven & sprinkle with the parmesan. Serve warm & enjoy! | "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not boast, it is not proud. 11: Getting married advice: while planning your wedding remember the most important thing is that you are marrying the man you love. It can get overwhelming planning a wedding with so many decisions to be made and everyone giving you their unsolicited opinions. Just remember at the end of the day you are celebrating your love and let the little things that can and will stress you out fly away, they are not as important as they seem at the time. Remember to breath and enjoy yourself. Marriage advice: Marriage is different then dating or living together. You will fight...There is no getting away from the other persons tiny ticks that may set you off. Remember that you are joining two lives together. That goes for all his annoying little habits as well as yours. Always focus on your love for each other and hard as it may be at times take a minute or 10 :) to remind yourself of all the ways you compliment each other. When it comes down to it there is no one else you would rather be fighting with and last but not least sometimes just let it go and chose your battles always kiss before you go to bed and never sleep apart.(meaning don't kick his butt to the couch even when you really want to haha...) 12: 1 lb hamburger, drained 1/2 C. chopped onion, drained small jar of pimento, drained 8 oz. elbow macaroni 1 can cream of mushroom 1 can corn 8 oz. cream cheese 1/2 C. milk Mix all together and cook @ 350 degrees for 20-25 min. | Grandma's Hamburger Casserole | 4 Tb. self rising flour 4 Tb. sugar Mix these 2 together. 3 eggs beaten well 1/2 C. margarine 1/4 C. milk 1 can creamed corn 1 can kernal corn Mix all together. Bake @ 350 degrees for approx. 40 mins., or until middle of casserole is firm. | Aunt Gobe's Corn Casserole | Courtesy of Kristen Brooks

13: Sausage & Cheese Crescent Squares Courtesy of Jennifer Strickland | Ingredients | -2 cans (8 oz each) Pillsbury crescent dinner rolls -1 lb spicy or mild pork sausage | -1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese -2 C. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese | Directions | Heat oven to 375F. Unroll 1 can of dough into 2 long rectangles. Place in ungreased 13x9-inch glass baking dish; press over bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust. In 12-inch skillet, cook sausage over medium heat, stirring frequently, until no longer pink. Remove sausage from skillet; discard drippings. To same skillet, add cream cheese. Cook over low heat until melted. Add cooked sausage; stir to coat. Spoon evenly over crust in baking dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Unroll second can of dough on work surface. Press to form 13x9-inch rectangle; firmly press perforations to seal. Carefully place over cheese. Bake 21 to 26 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 15 minutes. Cut into small squares.

14: Midge's Strawberry Pie Stolen by Emily Long 1 pie shell, cooked & cooled 1 sm. box strawberry jello Strawberries 1 C. water 3 /2 Tb. cornstarch 3 Tb. Karo syrup 1 C. sugar Bring water, cornstarch, syrup & sugar to a boil until clear. Stir in jello, then strawberries. Pour into crust & refrigerate.

15: Instant Chocolate Cake Courtesy of Emily Long 1/4 C. flour 5 Tb. sugar 2 Tb. cocoa powder 1 egg 3 Tb. milk 3 Tb. vegetable oil 1 dash vanilla or vanilla extract 1 dash salt (optional) Whisk all ingredients together in a large mug, microwave on high about 2 min., or until puffed. Makes a great double-serving pudding-type cake! | Chocolate Turtle Pie Made Famous by Emily Long 1 box instant chocolate pudding 1 prepared pie crust, cooked whipped cream pecans caramel topping chocolate syrup, optional In bottom of pie crust, make a layer of caramel topping and chopped pecans. Refrigerate until set up. In the meantime, prepare the pudding & pour over crust & bottom layer. Refrigerate again until firm. Pipe whipped cream on top, garnish with pecans, and drizzle with caramel & chocolate syrups/toppings.

17: Wedding Chicken Salad From the Kitchen of Debbie Kirkham | Combine mayonnaise, curry powder, salt & pepper. Place all other ingredients in a large bowl and pour mayonnaise mixture over the top. Toss & enjoy! | 4 C. cubed cooked skinless chicken breast 1 C. finely chopped celery 1/2 C. finely chopped green onion 2 C. seedless grapes, cut in half | 1 1/2 C. mayonnaise 3 tsp. curry powder salt & pepper to taste 1 C. cashews or peanuts, optional

18: DIXIE CAVIAR From the Kitchen of Jill Crabtree Great for parties or just watchin’ the game! | 2 cans Black Eyed Peas, drained 1 can Hominy t. Garlic 1 Jalapeno | 1 Medium White Onion 3 Roma Tomatoes 1 Green Pepper 1 Small Bottle Italian Dressing Favorite Bag of Tortilla Chips | Directions: Chop peppers, onion, garlic & tomato. Add peas and hominy while singing “If Heaven Ain’t A Lot Like Dixie” or “Dixieland Delight”. Mix in Italian dressing. Eat immediately or chill in fridge! Lowfat and YUMMY!! | Ingredients:

19: Jill’s Advice Column I have A LOT of it (unsolicited of course)! Just ask Emily!! When the boys start doing chores around the house – don’t correct them on how they did it vs. how you would do it. Because.when they are told how they don’t do it “right” – they will stop doing it completely! And then you are just doing everything yourself. Who cares how the laundry got folded. It will be dirty again soon enough and you will have a whole new opportunity for folding! And the toys will get dragged back out and you’ll eventually find where he put everything in the kitchen when he unloaded the dishwasher. It’s just stuff and don’t sweat the small stuff! All my best for a HAPPY, HAPPY Life!!

20: Dressing From the Kitchen of Donna Cutrer | 1 pan corn bread 1 pan corn muffin mix 1 "sleeve" saltine crackers (crushed) 1-2 cups Herbed stuffing mix (raw) 1 large onion, chopped 1 bunch green onions, chopped | 1 green bell pepper, chopped minced garlic 5-6 boiled eggs (chopped) 1 T. Sage 2-4 cups HEN broth Salt and pepper to taste Broth of one HEN | Boil Hen and reserve broth. Bake corn bread and corn muffin mix as directed. Sauté onion, green onion, pepper, and garlic in butter. Crumble corn breads, crackers, and stuffing mix in large mixing bowl. Mix in sautéed vegetables and boiled eggs. Add HEN broth to mixture (may need more broth according to the thickness of the dressing). Add sage and other seasonings (taste as you add to make sure of how much needed). Butter 9 x 13 baking dish and pour dressing mixture into the dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.

21: Emily Long | Killer Chicken DIp | 1 block of cream cheese (8 oz.) 1 jar of salsa 1 bag shredded cheese 1 large can chicken Combine softened cream cheese w/ part of the shredded cheese, until it's the consistency of a cheese ball. Spread on bottom of greased baking dish, Top with salsa, chopped chicken, and shredded cheese. Bake until bubbly and enjoy with corn chips! | 350

23: Shrimp Pignoli Pasta Courtesy of George Scoville | In large pot boil 2 quarts of water with 2 tbsp olive oil and 2 tsp salt. Add penne pasta and turn heat down to medium. The salt will help prevent the water from boiling over and the oil in the water will help prevent the pasta from sticking to the pot. Cook pasta for 12-15 minutes, or until desired tenderness is reached. Drain, set aside in collander. In large frying pan or skillet on medium heat, add 8 tbsp olive oil, 1/4 cup chopped basil, 1/8 cup scallions, and 1 tsp crushed red pepper flake. Sautee over medium heat until basil wilts and turns dark green and scallions become slightly translucent. Add 1 can artichoke hearts (drained), and 1 small jar sundried tomatoes. Sautee over medium heat until edges of artichoke hearts brown slightly. Add 3/4 lb shrimp. Sautee over medium heat until all shrimp are pinkish white all the way through. Rinse pasta once in collander. Begin to fold cooked penne into frying pan mixture. Continue to sautee over medium heat--lower heat if you start to get nervous. Once all pasta has been folded in, add pine nuts and stir mixture so all the penne is covered in oil. Finally, add 1 cup crumbled feta cheese. Continue sautee over medium heat for 2 minutes, or until feta begins to melt. Remove from heat. Serve pasta in two large bowls. Garnish each with 2 tbsp fresh grated parmesan cheese. Enjoy! | 0.75 lb peeled, deveined shrimp--no tails preferred 1 can artichoke hearts (drained) 1/4 C. pine nuts 1 small jar sundried tomatoes 1 tsp crushed red pepper flake 1/4 C. chopped basil-- fresh preferred 1/8 C. chopped scallions--fresh preferred | 10 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1 C. crumbled feta cheese 4 tbsp grated parmesan cheese--fresh not only preferred, but practically required (I'm convinced that the green plastic dried parm kills this dish) 1 box penne pasta 2 tsp salt extra salt and pepper to taste

25: Mexican Lasagna A Long Family Favorite 1 lb. hamburger, cooked & drained-- 1 packet taco seasoning-- 1/2 C. water-- 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste-- tortillas-- sm. carton cottage cheese-- shredded cheese-- Doritos Mix hamburger, taco mix, water & tomato paste in skillet & mix. In a greased casserole dish, layer: 1. Tortilla 2. Meat mixture 3. cheese. Repeat until all ingredients are used. Bake at 350 until bubbly. Add crunched up Doritos toward the end of baking.

26: Words of Relationship Wisdom from Tia Pitcher | 1. When he asks if he can change channels - no matter how you answer, it sounds like "yes". 2. If he asks you what he should wear - He really wants you to say "Your jeans and Bear Whiz Beer T- shirt". 3. "Would you be mad if I decided to......." - means he already did it, and doesn't know how to hide it. 4. Men don't spend money on expensive toys just to make you mad - it's genetic, they can't help it. 5. If you ask his opinion, and he says "I don't care", or "I don't know" - he really doesn't care, or know. 6. Let him pretend he's in charge. It may take him 5 or more years to figure out that he isn't. By then, it's too late. 7. If you catch him sneaking a peak at another woman - let him. If he just stares - smack the snot out of him. 8. The way to a man's heart is not through his stomach - you'll get further with back rubs, or new golf clubs. 9. Yes, a man really can decide if he wants to watch a TV channel in less than 1 second. 10 Criteria for stopping while channel surfing: 1) women in bikinis, 2) a karate fight scene, 3) a truck commercial. 11. Men don't have to know the rules of a sporting event to enjoy watching it. 12 Don't ever criticize your husband in public - the world should know that you believe that he tries really hard. 13. Men really believe that: mowing the lawn, changing the oil, and reading the paper, is doing their fair share. 14. Don't let him plan your summer vacation. Unless you really like Bar-B-Qing in your own backyard. 15. Don't fight or argue over the little stuff. It's never worth the effort. 16. Tell him you love him, scratch his back, and let him have the remote. Everything else is little stuff. | For the Bride...

27: 1. Never let her go to bed angry - you're defenseless when you sleep. 2. Don't let her know that you think your couch is comfortable - or you'll be sleeping on the patio. 3. If she says, "Do whatever you want to" - You'd better figure out what it is she wants you to do. 4. "Do it when you get a minute" - Means "It should have been done already, and without me telling you." 5. Any meal you don't have to cook is a good one. If you don't have to cleanup - it's a great one. 6. Don't expect a night out with the guys - unless you're willing to let her have a night out with them also. 7. When you say "I do" she owns you from the nose down. What you think, and look at, is your own business. 8. What you think, and look at, can still get you in trouble - if she catches you thinking it, or looking at it. 9. Learn to change diapers, and feed babies. 10. The best gift a man can give his children - is to show them how much he loves their mother. 11. The second best gift he can give them - is his time. 12. There is no right answer to: "Does this make me look fat?" If she thought it looked okay she wouldn't be asking. 13. If you go shopping with her, she will always leave you alone in the bra and panty section - Don't Browse. 14. Don't ever criticize your wife in public - the world should know that you believe she is perfect. 15. Don't fight or argue over the little stuff. It is never worth the effort. 16. Tell her you love her, buy her jewelry, and rub her feet. Everything else is little stuff. | And the Groom...

28: Mississippi Mud Pie Courtesy of Tia Pitcher | 1 cup chopped walnuts 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup butter, softened 2 (3.9 ounce) packages instant chocolate pudding mix 2 cups cold milk 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1 cup confectioners' sugar 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream 1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2.In a medium bowl, combine walnuts and flour. Mix well, then stir in softened butter or margarine. Stir until ingredients are combined and mixture forms a ball. Press into bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, until golden brown. Remove and cool. 3.Place pudding mix in a medium bowl and whisk in milk. Mix until smooth. Allow to set up for 5 minutes then spread on top of cooled crust. 4.In a large bowl whip cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in confectioner's sugar until mixture is smooth. In a separate bowl, whip cream until soft peaks form, then fold into cream cheese mixture. Spread over pudding layer. Chill before serving.

29: Fluff's Famous 'Possum Gumbo-- A Rural Mississippi Holiday Favorite | Ingredients 1 box of Zatarain's New Orlean's Style Gumbo Mix with Rice 1 Hillshire Farms smoke sausage Cut up the sausage and brown it in the pan that you're making your gumbo in. Carefully read the back of the gumbo box, and follow those instructions carefully-- Zatarain knows his stuff! If he doesn't manufacture it, I don't cook it! | Christmas Ornaments I thought Tanner may like this... 4 C. flour 1 C. salt 1 1/2 C. warm water Mix all ingredients together to make baker's clay. Roll out the dough, and cut into shapes with holiday cookie cutters. Poke a hole in the top for a hanger. Bake at 300 degrees for 30 mins. Allow ornaments to cool and paint as desired.
