FC: Warpaint Emerald Dragonfly

1: Somatochlora incurvata | The dragonfly is anout 2 inches long, with metallic markings along its fact and body. There are about 9 other types of emerald dragonflies in the Michigan-Wisconsin area.

3: Range and Niche: Ontario, Nova Scotia, Maine, Pennsylvania, upper Michigan, Wisconsin. Wisconsin: eastern Jackson, western Adams counties. Spring-fed bogs, poor fens, and heaths. Midges; insectivorous birds and larger dragonflies.


5: No, Conclusive numbers due to rarity. State Status/Rank: END, S2. Global Status: G4.

6: Limited project surveys on the east-side of the Hiawatha Forest. You can help with volunteer survey and researching. Maintaining ecological integrity of the habitat.
