1: Cola wars | The cola wars are an event that started in 1980 and is still continuing until now. Although at the beginning it was more intense, it has lowered. But the rivalry still stands. In most places of the world were Pepsi Cola and Coca Cola were sold you could also see in the TV the propagandas of one of the two cokes saying that it was the best and that the other one was bad. As both of the fought for supremacy in the market place they hired famous singers to promote their drinks while Coca Cola had Paula Abdul Pepsi Cola had Michael Jackson. They kept on trying to undo each other by hiring more famous people to promote their drinks.
2: China under Martial law
3: In 1989 After the death of general secretary Hu Yaobang (Party official who had been purged for his support of political liberalization) millions of people went to the Tianamen Square to protest. --- . They have been protesting for about seven weeks until the government decided to declare Martial Law (Martial law is the imposition of military rule by military authorities over designated regions on an emergency basis, when the civil authorities do not manage to control the situation, military authorities come and take their place, it is normally temporary). Military actions were taken to drive the protesters out of the Square. Gun fire was used, many people died and some were severely injured. This was the longest state of martial law in the worlds history.
4: Hypodermics on the shores
5: Hypodermics on the shores is a very complex sentence itself, hypodermics means mostly the injection needles that the doctors use in hospitals, but this time were the needles that the homeless drug addicts used to inject themselves heroin or crack into their bodies, the most common drug that they use are crack and heroin. The song also says hypodermics on the shores. The shores are the shores from the beaches. That means that the drug addicts just threw the needles to the sea affecting the entire world. The most common city were this was happening was in New York. New York had to pay millions of dollars for the damage that it citizens made. But New York was not the only city that did it and it weren’t only needles the objects that the drug addicts threw to the seas. They also threw other things that had to do something with drugs.
7: During the 1980s many people became addicted to a drug called crack. It is a drug that comes from the cocaine but at that time it was more cheap and it was easier to find, that is why many people were addicted to that drug. This drug was generally smoked in tiny glass tubes with cigar ashes, large metal tubes like an antenna, a big glass jar or ,to make people think that that is not a drug, a pipe. So many people were taking this drug that the government made a state of emergency to stop these drug addicts to stop consuming drugs or more specific, crack.

9: Some years ago in December 22th of 1984 an accident occurred, a man called Bernie Goetz, shot dead four men at a subway station. The whole story began when he was robed years ago but the police did not do anything the guy that robed him, they just punished him for street violence and then let him go. Bernie got so mad that he got a gun to defend himself in future occasions. When he was in a subway station some young men asked him for five dollars, he Panics and shoots all of them, he kills four and paralyses one from the waist down. When they sent him to court the only thing that the judge did was to penalize him for caring an illegal gun, not paying attention to the four men he killed and the one he left severely injured, and these people did not carry any guns so they might have been innocent. Some people even called him a hero.
