2: John Steinbeck John Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California, in 1902, about 25 miles from the Pacific Coast. In 1912 he went to Stanford University. He was a laborer and journalist in New York City. He move to Pacific Grove and published two California fictions. In the 1940's, Steinbeck became a film maker with The Forgotten Village. The last decades of his life were spent in New York City and Sag Harbor with his third wife. He died in 1968, having won a Nobel Prize in 1962.
4: This novel took place in the 18th or 19th century, in La Paz, Mexico. Kino and his family lived on the beaches of La Paz where the poor people stay. The higher class people stayed in the town of La Paz in nice houses.
6: Kino is the Husband of Juana and the Father of Coyotito
7: Juana is the mother of Coyotito and the wife of Kino. Coyotito was the baby of Juana and Kino and got killed in the end of the story
8: The Priest is a man who comes to Kino when he finds the pearl to try and get him to give some money to the church
9: Chapter 1 | Coyotito gets stung by a scorpion. They took the him to the doctor, and the servant said they doctor was to busy to treat him.
10: Chapter 2 | They used seaweed to help the scorpion sting. The seaweed made the sting better. Kino went and dove for a pearl and came back with the biggest one they'd ever seen
11: Chapter 3 | The news spread fast that Kino had found the pearl. The priest came. Kino's personality changes. The doctor comes when he hears about the pearl and gives the baby the medicine. That night someone tried to steel the pearl.
12: Chapter 4 Kino was going to sell the pearl and the pearl buyers tried to rip him off. He says he is going to the capital. Juan tells kino to go with God.
13: Chapter 5 Juana tried to take the pearl and throw it in the seas. Kino killed a man. Their house was burned down so they hide with Juan.
14: Chapter 6 Kino and his family leaves to go to the capital. Trackers came after them. The trackers killed Coyotito. Kino and Juana decided to throw the pearl back into the sea.
15: Moral: The moral of this story is if you find something valuable don't let it change who you are. Appreciate what you are from the beginning instead of always wanting to be something more.
