FC: The Pearl by John Steinbeck

3: John Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California in 1902. He went to Stanford University enrolling in literature and writing courses. After he got married and moved he wrote two fiction books The Pastures of Heaven and To a God Unknown. Being a ceaseless experimenter he changed his courses regularly. In the early 1940's he became a filmmaker. The last decades of his life were spent in New York City and Sag Harbor with his third wife. He later died in 1968 having won a Nobel Prize in 1962. | la
5: The setting of the story takes place in La Paz, Mexico in an old Indian village and an old stone town. The villages by the ocean were owned by poor farmers, and the richer people lived in the stone city.
6: Kino- he is strong young man with long black hair, and he is the father of Coyotito. Juana- is the mother of Coyotito and wears a dark blue shawl over her head. She also is a very strong person. Coyotito- baby of Kino and Juana . Doctor- is a rich, selfish man who is fat.
8: Chapter One The baby Coyotito gets stung by a scorpion. Then Kino and Juana take him to the doctor. The doctor then tells his servant to tell them that he is busy on a more important case.
9: Chapter Two Juana and Kino go out looking for a pearl and Juana gets seaweed as a poultice for the baby. Then as the baby's swelling went down Kino found the pearl of the world.
10: Chapter Three The news spreaded about Kino finding the pearl. The priest came to try to get Kino to give the pearl to the church. The doctor comes to the house and gives the baby medicine, and then someone tried stealing the pearl.
11: Chapter Four Kino was going to try and sell the pearl. The pearl buyers tried to cheat him and he said he would sell it at the capital.
12: Chapter Five Juana tried to steal the pearl and throw it back into the ocean. Kino killed a man ,and then somebody burned down his house. Kino hid at his brother's house and planned to run to the capital.
13: Chapter Six Kino and the family leave and they were being tracked. The trackers caught up to them and killed the baby. Kino and Juana came back to their town and threw the pearl back into the ocean.
14: Moral The moral of this story is that you shouldn't be greedy, because it can cost you what/whose close to you.
