FC: Dog Day's of the Great Depression.

My life was good. Happy Family, dad had a nice job as a finance manager, food on the table..

This all changed in October of 1929. Dad came home upset and with a worried look on his face.

The stock market crashed and banks shut down. Now many families' savings are lost including ours.

All we have left is what's in our pockets and in little Charlie's piggy bank.

Mom would cry night after night. Charlie would lay in bed with a worried and confused look on his face, with a tear running down his cheek.

Dinner time... my favorite time of the day. Family is normally happy and laughing and stuffing our faces with delicious food.

Today was different.. My bowl was empty in two bites. Mom and dad could not even look at Charlie they were so ashamed with the small portion of soup they could give him. | Maybe tomorrow will be better...

The portions of food got smaller to the point my bowl was empty. I could not understand why. One night I even snipped at Charlie I wanted his piece of bread, I spent the night locked in a room.

The next night I was laying by the door when all of a sudden I feel a jerk on my collar then dad was pulling me towards the front door. He opened the door, took off my collar, I can hear Charlie screaming and crying in the house. I do not understand, I know I'm on my own.

As I walk the streets I hear people crying and screaming. Animal's fighting in the streets for scraps of food. Houses abandoned with everything left inside.

I wondered out into the country side, hoping for some answers. Farm animals were running loose. Nobody is around. What am I going to do? I've always had people to depend on.

I'm starting to feel weak and I'm scared, I don't know what I should do. I have not eaten anything in 2 days besides a few nibbles of grass which hurts my belly.

I have not seen a single movement from the bodies laying along the streets. I just want love, food and most of all a family.

I find a place to rest in an abandoned home. This home seems different then all the rest though, it's my old home. Where's Charlie? Mom and dad too? It was not the same home I once knew.

I crawled into Charlie's bed. I think I' m going to close my eyes and hope when I open them everything will be wonderful again.
