1: Have you ever tried to keep a secret from someone you know? Thats what people usually try to do when they are being abused in any form because they are afraid their family or friends would say something. The Centers for Disease Control Prevention say that one out of four women and one out of seven men in the United States are victims of domestic abuse. Domestic abuse is wrong in any circumstance no matter what the gender or race is.
2: What is Domestic Abuse? Domestic abuse is abuse by a caregiver, a spouse or an intimate partner. There are many types of domestic abuse. Some types include: -Physical abuse is the use of physical force to inflict harm, such as hitting, or kicking. -Sexual abuse is any forced sexual activity. -Emotional abuse includes threats, constant criticism and being put down.

4: What you can do if you or your children are being abused First make sure you and your children are safe. Go to a safe place, such as the home of a friend or relative or an emergency shelter. Take your children with you. Call the police if you think you cant leave home safely or if you want to bring charges against your abuser. If possible take house keys, money and important papers with you. Do not use drugs or alcohol at this time because you need to be alert in a crisis. The staff members at emergency shelters can help you file for a court order of protection.
5: Domestic abuse is usually caused by: -Being a victim of abuse -Having a stressful job -Non emotional person becomes angry -Wants to have control constantly
