S: A Cell Story

BC: BYE!

FC: By:Allison & Arnela | A Cell Story | ANNIE the animal cell | PLANTY the plant cell

Annie and Planty are best friends and have a lot in common, but like all friends, they have their differences. | *nucleus *endoplasmic reticulums *ribosomes *mitochondria *cytoplasm *golgi *cell membrane | cell wall chloroplasts rectangular, exact shape | cilia round, irregular shape lysosomes

Well sweetie, They are made by other cells because the cell is the basic unit of life and all living things are made of unicellular and multicellular ones.

Before School | "Mommy, How are babies made?

Well it is because he has secretory vesicles which secrete hormones and get them ready to leave his body. The golgi apparatus stacks the vesicles. | Understanding the Material: Secretory Vesicles: contain cell secretions and are transported for release into the body Golgi Apparatus: stacks different vesicle and holds macromolecules for transport.

Mom why does Johnny have a deep voice and i don't? | Ok, I'm leaving for school now Mom. Bye Planty.

Thanks mom well im going to go to school now. | The DNA in your nucleus is different than his sweetie sugar muffin. Now go along to school, Annie's probably waiting for you. | Understanding the Material: Nucleus: in the approximate center of the cell. Holds all DNA information.

Mom how come I don't have blue eyes like Johnny? | Ok, bye Mom.

Oh it's because we aren't losers like those Prokaryotes. They are just too simple. Look at this chart in the school handbook.! | Don't make fun of me. It's not my fault i don't have a cell wall to give me support and structure to make me look normal.!! | On The Way To School

Annie, why aren't you shaped like me? !!!! | Oh. Sorry. Annie, why do we go to the Eukaryotic school? | Understanding the Material: Cell Wall: | Understanding the Material: Cell Wall: a rigid structure made of polysaccahrides that encloses the cell and gives it support and structure

Reasons why Eukaryotes are better than Prokaryotes

On The Way To School | Are you okay Planty? | Aw, I'm Sorry. Tell her I said get well soon.

Yeah I'm just really sad because my mom had a leak in her cell membrane and it wasn't working the right way. It wasn't holding the water in her body, so they had to give her a protein supplement. | Understanding the Material: Cell Membrane: acts as protective barrier against an uncontrolled flow of water

1.All living organisms are composed of cells. They can be unicellular or multicellular. 2.The cell is the basic unit of life. 3.Cells arise from other pre-existing cells. | He's staying home today because he doesn't feel too good. His body couldn't maintain homeostasis.

Alright class...is everyone here? Hmm where's Ralph? | Understanding the Material: Homeostasis: maintaining a balance and consistency to function properly

1.All living organisms are composed of cells. They can be unicellular or multicellular. 2.The cell is the basic unit of life. 3.Cells arise from other pre-existing cells.

Alright class, let's get started. We're going to dive right into history. We were discovered by Robert Hooke. He examined very thin slices of cork and saw a bunch of tiny pores that he said looked like "the walled compartments a monk would live in". Because of this comparison, Robert Hooke called them cells. He was not completely right though. Later, 3 scientists (Schleiden, Virchow, Schwann) invented the cell theory, which is on the board.

1.All living organisms are composed of cells. They can be unicellular or multicellular. 2.The cell is the basic unit of life. 3.Cells arise from other pre-existing cells.

Ok, for your homework you're writing a paper on Ribosomes. This is our Unit 1A Topic. Ribosomes combine amino acids to assemble proteins in the cell. This is called protein synthesis. The paper is due Friday! You guys can go to lunch now.

Oh I made my own PB&J sandwich this morning because i am a plant so i can make my own food . It's because of my chloroplasts, and they also make me green!! | This is red mitochondria, an energy drink. It's really good you should try it. It gives you so much energy!! | Understanding the Material: Mitochondria: give the cell the energy to split, reproduce, and move. Chloroplasts: makes the cell green, and helps it create it's own food. *only in plant cells.

So what do you have for lunch? | Lucky!! My mom has to make my food for me....wow what are you drinking?

Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum!!!! | Oh he's always been obsessed with rough endoplasmic retictulums....such a nerd.. | Understanding the Material: Rough Endoplasmic Retictulum: has a lot of ribosomes on its surface, and proteins are made and transported in it.

What the heck is up with that guy... | Ok..Let's go to Recess.

Let's play superheroes! I'll be Lysosome Girl! | Ok, I'll be Bacteria Man! | I'm the good guy because Lysosomes kill bacteria which are bad and make you sick.

Understanding the Material: Lysosome: contains necessary hydrolytic enzymes, and they are released to kill and digest bacteria in white blood cells.

LYSOSOME GIRL TO THE RESCUE! | WOW! How are you so flexible!? | Oh it's because of my cytoskeleton. You have one too, you should try doing this it's fun!

Understanding the Material: | Understanding the Material: Cytoskeleton: enables inner cell movement and flexibility.

Well that was fun, but it's time to go home now Planty. | Alright let's go, this was a fun day! | Yes, my first day of school was better than I thought it would be.

Understanding the Material: | Understanding the Material: Cytoskeleton: enables inner cell movement and flexibility.
