FC: Road trip!! by:Olivia and Emily
Sally and Nate were going on a roadtrip with their family to California. They were so excited! Their mom and dad were both teachers,so they decided to play a learning game.
The game was played by pointing out the five themes of geography, but Sally and Nate didn't know what those were. Their parents were happy to tell them.
"The first theme",their father said,"is location. This is where you are at the time." Their parents told them to yell "location" when they saw a city or state name sign.
Their mom was ready to explain the next one. She said "the second one is human/environment interaction. It is a big name for how what you do effects the earth and how the earth effects you." An example of this would be a recycling sign. They knew to yell Human/environment when they saw this.
Sally and Nate's parents continued by explaining number this three, region. They said that this meant where you were when you compared it to another place. They said to shout "region" when they saw a mile marker or a sign that said how many miles away a city was.
The next one is place. Sally and Nate's parents said this meant your surroundings that were known to belong to a certain city or region, like a famous landmark. They were supposed to shout "place" when the saw one of these.
Number five, the last one, is movement. The two teachers both agreed that it meant the way ideas and things move around, like something that is known to belong to a certain state or region, such as a flower or fruit.
After they learned all the rules, they played the new game all the way to California and had lots of fun learning and playing the game. They knew that they would play the game again soon.
