BC: Five themes of geography by Rachel Brasher! :)

FC: Adella's Adventure | An Adventure into the world of geography and how it can help you

There once was a young girl named Adella, she was a girl who loved adventure, excitement, and wonder!

Once upon a falling star, a wish was made. This wish was small, but it was a very special wish. As the star fell the wish took it's first breath. As it did the adventure of a lifetime started for a young girl named Adella.

Adella was a young girl in fourth grade. She had brown hair and golden eyes. Yes, children Adella had Golden eyes. Adella lived with her sick mother in a very small town. One night she saw a falling star and wished that she could find a cure for her mother.

The next morning a knock came from the door. Adella ran to answer it; shocked to see a boy her age standing on the porch. | "Hello, my name is Andy! I've come to grant your wish!" the boy exclaimed.

Adella just stared at the boy. He had orange hair and wide blue eyes. He was smiling and staring into her own eyes. | "Go away," Adella said flatly. She tried to close the door but the boy caught it. "No," he answered firmly.

"I was sent to this Absolute Location in order to find a girl named Adella and grant her wish!" he continued. | "What is Absolute location?" asked Adella. "Well location is where we are, it may be relative or absolute. Absolute location is latitude or longitude. Or in my situation a street name!" replied Andy.

"I also know the relative location of a fairy who can make a cure for your mom." Andy added. "Is relative location like a less specific type of location than absolute?" Adella asked. Andy nodded then said,"You use landmarks, direction, or distance from one place to another. Listen, I know you're worried about your mom but this place isn't too far away."

"Alright then let's go to this Place. What is the relative location to this fairy's house?" Adella questioned. | "We have to go East, cross the river, and go into the forest. Her house is ten minutes from there." Andy answered.

So Adella set out with the strange boy called Andy in search for a cure for her mother.

After an hours walk from Adella's village she and Andy came across the river. "Are we there yet?" Adella asked. "We are in that region," Andy answered. "Region?" Adella echoed. "Yes, region is the area that shows unity in government, language, and possibly land forms." Andy told her. They stopped just at the foot of the bridge. But just as Andy put his foot on the wood a large troll jumped out from under the bridge.

"IF YOU WANT TO PASS ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS!!" It exclaimed loudly!

"Okay, the two replied. "What is the definition of movement in geography?" the beast roared. | "The spread of ideas, information, fashion, transportation, and trading," Andy replied. | "I, how did you know that?" Exclaimed the monster. "Never mind " it screamed.

What about the definition of Place?" is hollered. Andy answered once again, "places have both human and physical characteristic as well as images." | What about human/ environmental interaction!?" the wild thing cried.

Andy hardly blinked. "How humans affect the world," he answered. "How do you know all this ?" the monster asked.

"I like school and tend to pay attention." Andy replied. The beast turned to Adella and told her, "You will answer the next question; what are the two types of location?"

Well Adella did. She jumped with excitement and answered, "Absolute location and Relative location!" The monster growled then moved out the way and allowed the two to pass. | Andy and Adella traveled a few more minutes into the woods. Soon they came across the witch's cottage.

Andy entered the house and found a sleeping woman sitting near the fire place. She looked up at the two children and smiled. "I thought you two would be coming. You have been on quite a learning journey. Now can you tell me what you learned?" Adella answered first, "I have learned about location, regions, movement, about places, and human/ environment interactions."

"What a good girl!" the witch cooed. "A quite a smart little wish. Now here is a potion to cure your mother. Run home and give it to her." The fairy handed a small bottle to Adella. | Shortly afterwards Adella found herself back in her small home.

She turned to thank Andy but found him gone, Up in the night sky a meter shower was beginning. She started to think back at the day, but a gentle voice called her name. Adella turned, saw her now healthy mother, and ran to her open arms.
