3: location | There are different ways to describe location. Spatial relations is how things on Earth are connected because of where they are. Absolute location is the exact location of something by latitude and longitude. Relative location is where something is compared to another place.

4: places and regions | a place is a space on earth that has meaning. | a region is bigger than a place- it's a group of places that have something in common | there are also different types of regions, like formal regions and functional regions.

6: Physical Systems | physical

7: systems | physical systems shape the face of the earth | Some physical systems are volcanoes, floods, and hurricanes.

8: people affect the earth by making societies and migrating. | they also move ideas and other things to new places.

9: Human Systems

10: Environment and society | we affect the environment by clearing or planting forests, building cities, and hunting. | sometimes things like mountain ranges can get in the way of migration.

12: Geographers give us important info about Earth's features, living things and human systems. | These facts describe the planet and help plan for the future. | Uses of Geography

15: Glossary latitude- parallel lines that measure the Earth from north to south using degrees. longitude- vertical lines that measure the earth from east to west using degrees. formal region- an area defined by one common thing. functional region- a single place with the areas around it connected to it. volcano- an opening in the Earth's crust that lava comes out of. flood- a great amount of water covering the ground. hurricane- a tropical storm that has very fast winds. societies- groups of people that are very different from each other and have a common culture or traditions. migrating- moving from one country or region to another.
