FC: How My Beliefs, Assumptions, and Values Have Changed Since I've Started Nursing School
Megan Laney The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences May 30, 2012
Health | Before my nursing school health meant this to me: Active, Food Guide Pyramid, Toned, Happy, Weight Proportionate to Height
After two years of nursing school health means this to me: BMI:18-25, HR : 60-100 bpm, Resp: 12-20, bp: 120/80, fsbs: 60-100
Person | Before: Individual, Personage, Character, Hobbies, Strengths and Weaknesses
After: Now I see a person through the eyes of a care giver. I embrace their individual cultures and beliefs
Before: Knowledgeable, Time manager, Caretaker | Nursing
After: Supportive, non-judgmental, caring, respectful, and trustworthy. The word nursing means so much more to me now that I have gone through two very hard years of nursing school. I have a much greater respect for nurses because I now know how hard it is to become one.
Environment | Two years ago my definition would have been short and simple: Surroundings in which we live.
My environment has expanded since I've been in nursing school. My environment consists of loving family, mine and my husband's first apartment together, nursing school, Christ Hospital and becoming a nurse. Nursing is now a huge part of my life, rather than just a wish that I hoped would come true.
