1: Thank you for picking up this travel brochure for India. We will start by covering Ancient India and how life was back then and then talking about Modern day India and how it is today.
2: India started with two major cities that were formed around the Neolithic Period along the Indus River. They were Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro.
3: An example of one of the streets that archaeologists found during their expeditions in Mohenjo-Daro.
4: Most of ancient India's governments were separated and each city had their own independent government. Some were small republics that had some but little elements of democracy. The republics were leaded by an omnipresent king or rajah.
5: The Rajahs had absolute power, which meant that while people can give the Rajah advice,He was the final decision in the end.
6: The Religion in Ancient India was more of a Hybrid consisting of beliefs from the first tribes that lived there and the Aryans that Invaded later on. | The Hybrid was called Hinduism A belief in reincarnation and was the most prominent belief in Ancient India.
7: Though Buddhism Was a prominent Belief in Ancient India too, many consider it more of a philosophy and a way to live your life instead of a full fledged religion.
8: During several digs, archaeologists found several wooden dolls and figures. They also found assorted pots that had several inscriptions in it.
9: One of the most prominent landmarks in Ancient India is the Taj-Mahal
10: The Ancient Indian's wrote on Seals. Their form of writing was called Sanskrit. A form of ancient pictographs. | Writing In ancient India
12: The Indians had several public works such as a road system
13: Another, rather dirtier public work were restrooms.
14: The social Hierarchy was based on a caste system. Since the prominent belief in India was that if you were born into that caste, you would stay in that caste until the day you die and that if you did good, you would be put into a higher caste and likewise. Sometimes, you could be reincarnated into an animal.
16: Job specialization was based on which class you were in. For example, the Highest class made up the priests.
17: And the lowest classes made up all of the peasants.
18: India's cities have grown to over 1,400
19: India's population has increased over the years and is now the second most populated city of all time. | Modern India
20: The government of India has some elements of democracy in it. With legislature. Its is known as a Parliament.
22: Religion is still mostly Hinduism in India and is still Polytheistic.
24: Public works are largely the same with road systems. But also included now are the public transportations and the inclusion of electricity.

26: Jobs seem to vary much more now. Ranging from various occupations. such as a politician.

28: While ancient India's caste system has been abolished, some factors determine social class.
29: An easy example defining this is wealth.
30: Still an easily identifiable landmark today, the Taj-Mahal is still a sight to behold. | Several Indian traditions still remain in modern India
31: Sanskrit has been translated and various languages are now used in current India. | Liturature and writing is still a major part of India.
