6: Pollock's Techniques | He placed the canvas on the floor and painted with forceful, rapid brush strokes. He would also splash the paint on the canvas. This style is know as action painting. Pollock used sticks, trowels, knives, and paint cans with holes in the bottom of them to create the effects he wanted. Pollock cared more about expressing emotions than realism.

14: The Movie | Ed Harris played the part of Pollock in the 2002 film adaption of the artists life. Ed Harris was also the producer and director of this film. The film begins with Pollock's rise to fame and ends with his death. It focuses mainly on Pollock's struggles and how art affected him.

16: Insight | Pollock was raised during The Great Depression, which may have been why he was a alcoholic and had rapid mood swings. | When he painted he naturally used brush strokes that symbolized his emotions. | Eventually alcoholism got the better of him. On August 12, 1956 he died in a car accident. | The only survivor of this accident was his mistress Ruth Kligman.
