S: Tull Family Album
BC: Kendall Coffey I am a senior at Hickory Grove Christian and I live in Charlotte, NC with my family. I created this album to describe the members of the Tull family and to tell about the different events in their lives. I really enjoyed being able create an album and pick out different layouts and designs. The only challenge was finding different quotes from the book. Overall iI thought it was a great assignment!!

Pearl Tull | March 15, 1949 Rasing three children on my own has been a great struggle. I wish i had the help of another person. I never felt like I was adequate to raise the kids by myself. I feel like someone else could have raised them better than i could have. These years have been difficult, but i will cherish them -Pearl
Me and my two boys, Cody and Ezra outside our home. | Beck and I on our wedding day. | "You should have got an extra." (pg 32) | "It was Peculiar how her memory seemed to be going blind with the rest of her." (pg 5)
Dear | Beck Tull wrote short, to the point letters to Pearl once a month. He enclosed fifty dollars each time. But the letters didn't last long. | Dear Pearl and kids, Hope all is well. I am doing well, I found a right good apartment with a hotplate. The sales manager seems to think well of me. I hope the kids do not lack for anything. I have enclosed a check for fifty dollars. Hope its enough. -Beck (page 12)
Beck Tull | "One night in 1944, he said he didn't want to stay married." (pg 9) "At night she dreamed that Beck was new and wonderful again, someone she'd just become acquainted with." (pg 13)
Ezra Tull was always Pear's favorite. He was a sweet and kind boy. Growing up he loved playing the recorder. After he was older, he entered the Korean War. Then he followed his passion and worked at Scarlatti's Restaurant.
Ezra Tull | "THe second child was Ezra, so sweet and clumsy it could break your heart." (pg 4)
Jenny's dream job was to become a nurse. She went to Paulham University to achieve her goal. | Dear Jenny: I unreasonably took offense at what was, in fact, a natural reaction on your part. I must have seemed ridiculous. What I had intended, before our misunderstanding, was that we might become better aquainted over the summer and then marry in the fall. I still find marriage a viable option. I now this must seem sundden-we haven't exactly had a normal American courtship-but after all, we are neither of us frivouloud people... -Harley Baines
"By the time Jenny reached collage, she'd grown to be the beauty that everyone predicted." (pg 82) | Jenny Tull | Pearl and Joe reading to one of their children.
Cody Tull | "Cody was prone to unreasonable rages." (pg 22) "-Even about Cody, for his very absence was a characteristic, perhaps his main one." 11: Cody marries Ruth, who was once with Ezra. She also worked with Ezra in the restaurant. | Cody proved to be a lot like his dad growing up. He was also a big troublemaker.
Joe and his son Slevin sit outside and spend time together.
Slevin | "I've been concerned, by Slevin's Behavior at C.Y.O meetings. He's not sociable at all, has no friends, seems moody, withdrawn." (pg 190) "Who needs Slevin anyhow, the old grouch." (pg 192) "He's really a very sweet boy, I can see that. Maybe he's asking for a psychologist or some such." (pg 205) | DR TULL IS NOT A TOY
 Luke enjoyed fishing
"She can picture Luke running through the yard in denim overalls. He is old enough to go fishing now." (pg 183) "Each visit, his interests have changed: from popguns to marbles to stamp collecting." (pg 183) "Luke must be involved in something entirely different. It's been so long since he was here, and she's not sure he'll ever be back." (pg 184) | Luke

 Mrs. Scarlatti
Josiah | "Probably what I'll do is work for Ezra," he said, "once Ezra opens his restaurant." "Aren't I a human being? Don't I feel bad if someone shouts at me? I wish i were out in the woods someplace, none of these people to bother me. Camping out in a dead, dead quiet with a little private tent from L.L Bean and a L.L Bean sleeping bag." (pg 76)
Josiah and Ezra were great friends. They spent a lot of time together.

He'd been away on a business trip and brought back an archery set for the children...He took the set on their Sunday drive to a field outside the city-nailed the target to a tree trunk..It was Cody who drew the bowstring, but that was incidental..She blamed Beck, who through sheer thoughtlessness if not intention had shot her through the heart.'' (pg 27-28)
Cody drew the bowstring, but when Ezra distracts him, he accidentally shoots Pearl. Pearl chooses to blame Beck for the incident because she is mad that Beck is gone all the time and absent in her life.
Pearl and Beck's Separation | "the narrow wedding band and the engagement ring, set with a pearl, inscribed To a Pearl among Women. Everything seemed so unsatisfying." (pg 7) "once Sunday might in
Pearl and Beck's separation was brought on by one main problem, Beck's absence. With Beck being a salesman and not being interested in staying at home with his family, Pearl was left to raise the family herself. This led Pearl to believe she wasn't good enough for the children or for Beck. Once Beck decided he no longer wanted to be married to Pearl, he was completely out of their lives. | "To a Pearl among Women"
 Homesick Restaurant
Homesick Restaurant | The Homesick Restaurant started off as a dram of Ezra's. He wanted to have his own restaurant where he could make the decisions and run it himself. The restaurant turned out to be more than just a place to eat. It was a place that a family came together. Even though most of the family members did not want to be there most of the time, they all still gathered together.
