Stare at the heart for 30 seconds and then look at the page to the right. | Chapter One Afterimages
You saw an afterimage. Afterimages are always complementary colors of the original image. Try it again with the waves. What do you think you will see?
When saturated complementary colors are next to each other, the edges appear to vibrate. How does that edge make your eyes feel? What afterimage do you predict if you stare at the edge?
Try it one more time with the complementary colors of yellow and purple. How does this edge feel?
Chapter Two Fluting Colors | When talking about color, fluting means that colors seem to change depending on the colors they are near. Do the inside squares appear to be the same, or different colors?
Chapter Three Black, White, and Shades of Gray
Black is the absence of color and white is all the colors combined. Mix black and white together and you get shades of gray.
What colors do you see? What do you see in the afterimage?
