Dear journal, I am Alexandra. I am 10 years old. I was born on 12th 1902. I am so exited because I am going to America. Mother told me that America is a wonderful place and the land of opportunity. I got this really cool ticket. It's not special but I think that it is cool. I am going to miss Switzerland but I am exited to start my new life in America. Today is June 10th 1915. We are leaving for the boat. I am saying goodbye to my friends and other family members.

Dear Journal, What I have with me is a dress, my journal, and my locket that my grandmother gave me. It is still June 10th 1915. My aunt lives in America. Once we get there we are going to live with her if we make it. I am so exited for America because I will make many new friends. Since we are hoping to make it to America, mother has given everything away to our family and friends. Grandmother and grandfather will get the house and our neighbors will decide what they want to take. My mother father brothers and sisters are coming with me.
What I brought with me. | my lucky locket | my amazing journal | my favorite dress
Dear journal, I am on the boat. The ocean is so beautiful. I have seen so many creatures through the journey. I have seen dolphins and fish. The date is June 19th 1915. I have a blanket but it is too hot out too wear it. Some people are saying that it is over 100 degrees. Some people are saying that we are going to melt. A huge wave just crashed on the boat. Now everyone is wet. But it feels good.

Dear journal, Today is my sister Eliza's and my brother Ian's birthday. They are twins. It is also my mother and father's anniversary day. My other brother, Markus, was just born nine months ago. Today is still June 19th 1915. The boat is huge. It is also very hard. I am afraid that I will get lost on it. There are many people on the boat. I would say that there is at least 100 people on this boat maybe even more. It has rained about once or twice while being on the boat. But it's OK. I don't mind a little rain. The food that we ate on the boat was good but not the best. I feel very sea sick. I see a lady threw the fog. It's the statue of liberty! We are almost in America

Dear journal, We are finally in America! Today is June 20th 1915. We are at a place called Ellis Island. We were told to bring our bags upstairs threw the great hall. There we got a medical exam. Then we went on and got a physical exam it was just like a medical exam but, different. Then people started asking us questions like: Where are you from? How old are you? How much money do you have? And so on. It was very weird and I started to get a little afraid. Thankfully my whole family past the tests.
