Once upon a time, in a land formerly known as The Holy Roman Empire, a child was born who was destined to be someone brilliant, "the Father of The Reformation". Martin Luther was born on November 10, 1483 and the day after he was baptized a Catholic. Thats a long time ago! As a child, Martin lived a normal life being a kid and praying.

One day when Martin was walking through the woods, on his way home, there was a big thunderstorm. Martin was scared for his life! He was so scared, that he began to pray and ended up making a pact with God. The pact was that if God would allow him to get home safely, then he would live his life as a monk and devoted to God.

As Martin had promised, he went on to become a monk. At first he was a little worried because he wasn't sure if he had made the right decision. Eventually though, everything got better and he was fine. Martin entered the Mendicant order of the Augustinian monks at the Black Monastery

 The Ninety-five Theses

After Martin had spent enough time as a monk and involved with the Church, he started noticing some problems that he didn't like. Out of ninety-five problems that he saw wrong, one of the big problems was wasting too much money. He decided that he would write everything in to a book just to discuss with his friends such as his brother Jacob and all of the other monks.

The crest of the new found religion, Lutheranism.

After a while of Martins book being out, someone got it published and so the word spread. Everyone from the Pope to the peasants were informed. This caused a major uproar in Europe. A new religion came out of this uproar, and a big part of the catholics converted over to it.

One thing that Martin was not happy with, that came out of the whole thing was the rebellion of the peasants. He was ashamed that they were causing such commotion, so he let them all take the blame. This is what is called the Reformation.

Martin Luther stayed involved with the Church until he passed away at the age of sixty-two. Throughout his he did many great things and brought about change. His inspirations for everything were from his two tutors Bartholomus Arnoldi von Usingen and Jodocus Trutfetter, and for the Reformation it was the improper use of the Churchs power. So for doing so much, he is now remembered as a very important leader in the start of the Protestant Church.
