BC: IT WAS VERY FUN! OUR WILLIAM HARRIS HOMESTEAD FIELD TRIP!
FC: Our William Harris Homestead Field Trip
When we got off the bus, I looked around. There was a wood background where we took our class picture. I knew it would be fun.
Mr. Robbie told us about the soldiers and how they survived in the Civil War. He also told us about how they dressed and the things they kept. He also told us what they ate. It was very interesting!
Here is where we learned about the Indians, how the the Harris family washed clothes, and the chores they did. We also got to cross over the creek. Mrs.Marget told us about the creek and how they bathe.
The hay ride was my favorite part. I had so much hay sticking me! OUCH! But the best part was when Mr.Butch sped up on the bump. Everyone was screaming!
We learned that they had to make their own clothes and food. They had alot of children and there wasn't a doctor around. It was very interesting.
when we got the cellar we went to the medicine garden. We learned about what plants they used to help you feel better. It was really cool. But they didn't just give it to you like that. They made tea and made you drink it.
The cemetery was very interesting to be scary. We learned where Harriet and William were buried and there children were, too. But what was sad is that NINE babies were buried across the ground. Everyone stepped there. It was very interesting to be scary!
After we picked cotton and watched the dog trainer, Mr. Robbie showed us how to load a musket. There was a lot of steps and after he loaded it, he... SHOT IT OFF!
