5: Self Respect Poem | Sometimes I reveal it, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I show it only with a lie, sometimes I won’t. Depend on the tone, I might even moan. It really just depends on how I view the unknown. I’m not of the average mindset. And I ain’t telling this to make anyone fret. But I learned my own way. Because I am trying too hard to stray. I’m not ever in the best but I’m never in the middle. My worth is not determined by how it might appear. No matter what I try and that’s my riddle. I will always be standing out against my peers.

7: My Mother's Father's Mother's Kitchen | By the door a fridge In the fridge a reminder of a gathering By the fridge a cabinet In the cabinet a reminder of travels By the cabinet a door Turn around to the window To the right a turkey that’s been overfed In front a sink filled with copper and iron; pots, and pans To the left an oven still filled with bread To the door is heard a tiptoe. In walks a cousin and her son In walks their hunger Straight to the fridge ignoring the turkey Out pops the carrots for the younger With a blade, snap go the leafy green tops one by one As the attention transforms, The sky grows dim The focus is no longer on food or the surroundings The eyes have snagged a parrot on a limb A parrot brought by the recent storms When the tropical bird flaps his long feathers and begins to soar, The eyes immediately trail. The branch now stands bare. The eyes slowly begin searching in detail. The search turns up barer than before

9: This is here, This is now This is our school This place is diverse and unique This place is challenging feats This is our tool for learning Tons of work each week This is how we compete This is the best use of all available resources This is the applications math This is the science all around This is here, This is now Here we make the most of our courses Engineering is laid out on a path With all the possibilities we are unbound We don’t get enough sleep We procrastinate more than we plan We cram for tests with great speed We get grades that need us not weep We give it as much as we can We Will Succeed This is the future, This is how | Tribute to GSMST

11: The trees are green The days grow long The gardens paint themselves in wondrous colors The winter has passed along The world has long been unseen The feeling remains, forgotten, where do I belong? After long months, find your place no duller A niche that has been long missed. After it all, Have you truly bettered; the feeling is the same Many things you don’t recall Many things did not exist In the absence, enough missed to bawl The not bad news, remembered still are the names Where have we been, where have we arrived to To start where left off, gone so long without. Unanswered questions like a broken dam rushing in Has this been the best route? When this track has switched to two Feelings have widened the gap throughout To only have it all back, to gain back the feeling for how long it’s been. | Long Time Nothing Felt
