FC: Scout | Finch's | Memory | Book
Alli Lawson and Allison Logsdon Hour 4
My name is Jean Louise Finch, but everyone calls me Scout. I'm eight and in the second grade. | I have a brother named Jem. He thinks he is hot stuff just because he is three years older than me.
I can't stand wearing dresses. If I had my way I would always be in overalls, but Aunt Alexandra says that is unladylike. I like to ride inside the tire with my brother Jem and fiance Dill pushing me. Summer is my favorite time of the year because that's when Dill comes to visit us.
Atticus is my father. My mother died when I was little and Atticus does the best he can trying to raise Jem and me. I used to be ashamed of him because he's old, but now I know that he is honest and always tries to do what's best.
Me and Jem met Dill a couple summers ago. He lives with Ms. Rachel across the street. Dill asked me to marry him not too long ago, and I said yes We're gonna get married someday!
On my first day of school, I got in trouble three different times. The teacher said I wasn't supposed to be able to read and write. I didn't want to go back but Atticus told me that we could keep readin' if I would keep going.
We finally met Boo Radley when he saved us from Mr. Ewell. We found out that he wasn't like we thought at all and was real nice.
Jem and me found some soap dolls in a tree knot in the Radley yard. They look just like us! We think that Boo left 'em for us.
When Miss Maudie's house burnt down, Jem and me had to stand in front of the Radley house. When I got home, there was a blanket on my shoulders. We reckon that it was Boo that did it.
"I think there's just one kind of folks. Folks" (Lee 304).
