4: Feeding Time | By Tony, Abdullahi, Shanti, and Eshirah Rabbits need raw fruits and vegetables, like apples, pears, and carrots. Rabbits also eat rabbit food that comes in pellets and hay.

5: Feed Pirate Pete two small meals a day, in the morning and in the evening. Make sure he has plenty of fresh water every day.

6: Rabbits need toys to chew on to keep their teeth healthy. Some toys that are good for rabbits are wooden chew toys. Pirate Pete likes to chew on books, so be careful!

7: What Rabbits Need | Rabbits need a clean cage. Make sure Pirate Pete’s is cleaned once a week. To clean his cage, replace the litter and bedding. Always replace the bedding immediately if it gets wet so Pirate Pete doesn’t get sick. Pirate Pete also needs love, don’t pull on his tail or ears, or leave him up somewhere high. 9: When a rabbit gets nervous, their nose wiggles, or twitches. Their ears can swivel, or turn, in all directions and they can help them be safe and keep cool. Their teeth are sharp, and they chew on toys and wood to keep them sharp. When they are babies they do not have fur yet and they look like mice! When they grow up, they grow fur to keep them warm and safe. Mother rabbits pick up the babies by their necks. If you do not know a pet rabbit, you can pick it up by its neck so it does not scratch you.

11: There are 45 different breeds of rabbits. Rabbits molt, or lose their fur, twice a year. Wild rabbits have eyes on both sides of their heads.
