2: There is a lot of beautiful wild life.
6: Dear Mom, Everyday is a new experience. I am constantly intrigued and amazed every day. I am the most fascinated by the clothing of the Somali people. The clothing is provincial; it is different everywhere. Although the same basic garb is worn, each region puts its on twist on it. The urban men wear western pants or a flowing plaid kilt known as ma’awii and western shirts, shawls and colorful turbans. They are absolutely beautiful. Each cloth dyed with precision and effort. The urban woman in the north wear dresses called direhs and the southern women wear 4-yard- long cloths that wrap around the waist and tie over the shoulder. These cloths are also referred to as gutinos. Rural women wear sturdier versions. All women wear head scarves and shawls. Glitter is very characteristic of women. They really like to look nice and sparkle. I find it fascinating. I am often captivated by these women’s faces. It is very unique to their culture. Miss You! Love, Niki
