1: The Roaring 20'S On August 26, 1920 the nineteenth amendment was ratified, giving woman the rights to vote. after this amendment was passed woman felt a sense of equality and a new expression of freedom. This amendment opened many doors for woman to run political offices. In 1922 two woman became the first female legislators in Georgia house of representatives. These lady's were Bessie Crowell and Viola Napier.

2: A long grayish long shouted beetle, the boll weevil was destroying the income for many Georgia farmers cotton. the boll weevil had moved from Mexico, moved to Texas and into the southern states in 1890'S | the boll weevil appeared in southwest Georgia in 1915 and quickly spreaded across the state. the weevil destroyed thousands of major agricultural crops. | In 1924 Georgia's farmers were hit with anther natural disaster, am major drought. This drought ruined many feilds. When farmers failed banks that had loaned farmers money took big losses. many farm related businesses clossed, Georgia was in a great depression. | Destruction of GA. 3: In addition segregation in the south kept African- Americans from hotels,restaurants and recreation areas. While in the north they offered open access to these facilities. | The great migration was the movement of southern blacks, which lasted to 1960.The agricultural depression led many farmers to leave the south and migrate north looking for work. most black farmers in particular moved up north for industrial city's such as Chicago and Detroit hoping to find work in factory's. in the south well paying jobs went to whites. in the morth their were better paying jobs for colored folks. In the north companies actively recruited African-Americans for jobs. the schools in the south were very poor.the schools in the north offered more educational opportunities. | The Great Migration

4: In 1915 the Ku Klux Klan was reborn in Atlanta. the Klan targeted more than African-Americans. They targeted Jews, Catholics and immigrants.the membership increased, doctors, lawyers, judges,businessman, and even ministers joined. | The Klan Strengthens

5: In March of 1929 the stock market suffered a series of mini crashes. Each time the economy recovered. Tuesday October 29,1929 "black Tuesday " Is one of the days the stock market crashed. Each day after this consumers went deeper into an economic down turn. At the end of each year the value of stocks on the stock market had fallen 40 billion dollars. Now Tuesday October29,1929 black Tuesday is a very huge sale across the United States. | The great depression

6: In 1946 president Truman setup the president commite on civil right to study the problem of discrimination. By 1948 president Truman made it so African-Americans and whites where serving in the same units in the US army. In 1935 the national Association for the advancement of colored people (NAACP) began to fight segregation in schools. On January 6, 1961 the University of Georgia allowed its first to colored students. | One more large major event that happened on 1964 was the desegregation of transportation system in the south. It began at 5:30 pm on Thursday December 2. | Civil Rights Movement

7: Some 30 years later, 84 percent of the nation's young women graduate from high school .Women with college deutoral degrees rose from 16 percent to over the percent. | In 1976 tuner linked his television stations singnal to a satellite and brodcasted programs to cable operators throughout the nation. the superstition later renamed TBS was born. the hartsfield international airport. in 1977the first international flight was offered for Hartsfeild Jackson. Marta was also born on 1966 the first rapid rail service began 1979. In 1972 president Nixion signed into law legislation known as title LX , which prohibited discrimination in education whether in academics or athelectics . | Age Of Change

8: the 1950's were good for most people. Inventions of this time changed the way people lived.An example Johnson and Johnson created a No tears baby shampoo.Rock and Roll was a big music industry during this period. Prices were low.Rich's had the first air conditioned building in Atlanta.Homes and cars came air conditioned around the late 1970's and early 1980's.During this time was the time that the Baby Boom occurred also. | Families had an average family income of $4,421.During this time the "Three Governor Episode" occurred.Television was a invention in this period. In 1950's only 9 percent of the nation's household had a television. | The Post War Period

9: In 1970 woman wanted far more than nursing,teaching,and secretarial jobs. these woman wanted the same equal respect many people gave man. | The womans rights movement reflected major changes on how woman viewed themselves and their contributions to society. world warII was a major watershed in changing gender roles.millions of men left for war. so many woman stepped up to fill in the civilian jobs. these woman demonstrated their ability to do gentleman's work. woman gained lots of confidence. they believed they can do many things. after the war these woman wanted to stay out and work. | woman Rights

10: In 2001,Republican George W.Bush became president in an election marked by charged of voting irregularities and changed to election results.In 1998, U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were severely damaged by trucks bombs that exploded outside the building.on September 11,2001 the world changed airplanes struck in the world Trade Center. | Age OF Terrorism
