FC: Heroes of Iraq and South Africa Adam Beardsley, Avi Molder, Zach Bashore

1: Our Goal | To compare and contrast how the social, religious, and political views of kids from Iraq, Africa, and The United States are affected by their heroes.

2: Political | Iraq | South Africa | Nelson Mendela and F.W. de Klerk helped change the Government from being run by a white leader to being run by a black leader, Nelson Mandela. They shared the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize for this. | The first Iraqi democratic government is headed by the President, Jalal Talabani, and the Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki. They have the responsibility of making a democracy work in Iraq.

3: America | George Washington and Benjamin Franklin along with many other men helped form the American government into what it is today. Benjamin Franklin signed the Declaration of Independence and Washington Helped enforce what it layed out.

4: Social | Iraq | South Africa | Mandela and de Klerk shaped the social life in South Africa by giving more rights to black people in South Africa. This allowed black people to do more. | Talabani and al-Maliki have the job of making sure that the social rights of Iraqi people are not taken from them. They also have the job of improving the rights and giving people more social freedom.

5: America | Ben Franklin signed the Declaration of Independence, which gives American people social rights. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration which laid these rights out.

6: Religious | Iraq | South Africa | South Africa's religious situation improved after Mendela was elected, as the racial segregation ended, residents gained the freedom to practice any religion. | The religious rights of Iraqi people are the responsibility of Talabani and al-Miliki to conserve and improve with the democracy. The religious divide and the discrimination fall on them to improve.

7: America | Washington and Franklin sought religious freedom and were a big part of our ability now to practice whatever religion we wish to. Washington was a Christian, Franklin a Quaker.

8: Heroes | Iraqi Heroes | South African Heroes | Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk shared the 1993 Nobel peace Prize for their work in South Africa | Jalal Talabani is the current President of Iraq, Nouri al-Maliki is the current Prime Minister of Iraq

9: American Heroes | George Washington was the First President of The United States, Benjamin Franklin played a big part in making America what it is today, and Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence which lays out the laws and rights we have in America now.
