BC: MLA work amsler, bob. "railroads in the civil war". 5/26 .

FC: The railroad By: Spencer Erb

At the start of the war there were 200 railroads in existence. The south only had about 1/3 of these tracks.

to deal with confederate attacks on union railroads, the north set up bunkers to guard bridges and depots.

what did the railroads do in the civil war? The railroads were a huge part to the success of the union in the civil war! the railroads were used for the transportation of soldiers. they were also used for shipping supplies to areas that were in need of them. the railroads were much faster than horseback and could carry many more supplies.

how large of a part did railroads do for the south? the railroads did not help the south very much because the union destroyed many of the rail lines of the south which enabled the south to ship supplies and troops. | how large of a part did the railroads do for the north? The railroads were a huge part to the norths success. the north could send troops to places that were under attack. The north also destroyed many railroad lines of the south which disabled many supply lines to the confederate.

Who didn't benefit from the railroad? The south did not because even though they had railroads they were constantly under attack and destroyed by the union so severely that they could not be of use anymore. | who benefited fro the railroad? The union with out a doubt benefited the most from the railroad! The north used the railroads as a weapon. they also sabotaged the souths railroads by tearing parts of their track lines off and burning and bending the rails so they could be of no use.

what if the railroads wouldn't have been around during the war? If the railroads were not around during the war there would have been way more casualties! Also the war would have been dragged on a lot longer because it would have taken way more time to send troops and supplies.

Would life have been different during the war with out railroads? Yes, life would've been different because the north probably wouldn't have been able to cut off a lot of the souths supply lines because the north won by tearing the souths railroad track apart but if there were no tracks to tear apart the war would have been way different!

Are railroads still around today? Yes, railroads are still around today but they are way more improved. The railroads are still around today because its a great and fast way to transport mail and packages and people.
