FC: The Great Depression
Homes were deserted during the great depression and they began to live in shacks.
The Great Depression was a worldwide economic depression before World War Two. It started in the United States from a stock market crash. The negative effects lasted until the beginning of WW2. It started in 1928 and lasted until 1939 for most countries.
Life during the Depression was horrible for even the higher classes. People lost their jobs, had trouble buying food because it was so expensive and children quit school to help work for the family. People began to go to places that gave out free meals each night but had to wait in long lines.
Everybody was affected by the Great Depression, all races and ages no matter what class you were considered. Although it wasn't as bad for some, it still affected everybody.
People believe that Roosevelt's policies helped end the Depression. The Conservative Coalition also helped end it. Gold was beginning to be found helping the economy. The government spending on the war helped end it also, but many things together brought it to an end.
