FC: The Great Depression
1: What caused the Great Depression? | The Great Depression was not caused from just one situation. One of the situations was the stock market crash of 1929 where people lost about 40 million dollars. Another situation was bank failures because people could not pay the bank money they owed so the bank did not have enough money to give to people. American Economic Policy with Europe is also another situation because this was put in action to try to protect companies but it just led to higher taxes and less trade with other companies.
2: How long did the Great Depression last? | The Great Depression was longer that expected in America. It lasted eleven, long, painful years. From 1930 to 1941 was the exact years that the Great Depression occurred.
3: What was life like during The Great Depression? | Life was full of hardships and struggles during the Great Depression. Despite all the negative things, it was definitely a huge life lesson for America. People who may have been the strongest people were brought to their knees during the Great Depression.
4: Who was affected by the Great Depression? | Everybody living during the time of The Great Depression was affected. Some were affected more than others but in the end everyone went through substantial struggles. The middle and lower classes were affected the most because they barely had any money to support themselves and to get by. The Upper class was still affected but not as much as those with less wealth.
5: How did the Great Depression end? | The Great Depression ended because Roosevelt pledged "a New Deal for the American People". This was basically a compilation of programs and policies aiming to uplift various areas of the US economy. World War 2 started and prevented the Great Depression to coming back into effect.
