It was one of those summer days when little boys didn't have anything to do but sit around and wait for something to happen. Dominic was sitting in his room, being very bored, when his mother walked in and said, "Come on! Let's go!" Dominic was puzzled, he did not know that there was anywhere TO go, and he told his mother this. She replied "We're going to the zoo to see the other animals!" Dominic was confused again, what did his mother mean, the other animals? He had already seen the animals at the zoo. "You'll see" his mother said. So Dominic put on his sneakers, tied the laces, and followed his mother out the door.
When Dominic and his mother walked into the Zoo he saw something he had never noticed before. It was a penguin, but it was bigger than any penguin he had ever seen, and it had a real bow tie on!
The next animal Dominic saw was just as exciting! A frog that had dozens of tiny frogs all over it, in all different colors!
Then there was the turtles: one all gray with designs on his back, and one that looked very sad, even though he had so many beautiful colors.
Then Dominic saw the tigers and lions; with paintings of buildings and and other cats on them. "Can you tell which animals are real?" asked Dominic's mother.
As Dominic and his mother walked he saw many more interesting animals. A sheep that had a farm painted on it!
A llama with all sorts of silly creatures painted on it! | And a bear who was painted like a summer garden!
There was a giraffe who looked ready to go on a safari... | and... a pig that was painted to look like an old radio. Dominic's mom said it was a "ham radio."
As Dominic and his mother walked out he thanked her for taking him to the zoo on that hot summer day. On the way home he thought about all the animals he had seen that day, he realized that some animals are fun to see because they move and make noise, but the other animals can still be really fun to look at!!
