3: Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California, in 1902. He went to Stanford University in 1919, enrolled in literature and writing courses until leaving in 1925, without taking a degree. He supported himself as a laborer and journalist in New York city. The last decades of his life were spent in New York City and Sag Harbor with his third wife, with whom he traveled widely. He died in 1968, having won a Nobel Prize in 1962. | About the Author
4: The green dot on the map is La Paz, Mexico, the setting of the parable. This is where Kino and his people got treated poorly by the doctor and his people. | Setting
5: This picture is the doctor's side of town. This side is very pretty, and is also, the rich side. The top right picture is a bougainvillea plant that you see mainly on that side. | This picture is Kino's side of town. Although Kino's people are close to water and have another means of travel, they are still very needful. The bottom picture is the house ,in which, Kino and his people live.
6: Juana she's the wife of Kino and mother of Coyotito. | Coyotito He's the only child and son of Juana and Kino.
7: Kino The man who found the pearl of the world. He's the husband of Juana and the father of Coytotito. | The doctor The man that rejects Kino and his family, but as soon as they find the pearl of the world, he acts as if he's a hero.
8: Chapter One | Kino awakes to noises that makes up the Song of the Family. Juana, Kino's wife, is nurturing Coyotito. Coyotito gets stung by a scorpion. Juana wants to see the doctor because not many has lived after the bite. The doctor rejects coming to see them an;d treating the baby when they go themselves.
9: Chapter Two | Kino and his family goes out to sea in search for a pearl. Juana is praying that Kino finds a pearl. He finds one, but by that time the swelling has gone down.
10: Everybody finds out that Kino has found The Pearl of the World. The doctor comes to the house and tries to help with the baby's scorpion bite. He really tricked them because of the knowledge they lacked. This is where Kino started to think about the things he will do once he becomes a rich man. Kino awakes by foot steps and gets attacked. | Chapter Three
11: Chapter four | Kino goes to see the pearl buyers. He doesn't sell because he thinks they're trying to cheat him.But the truth is, they really are. Kino threatens them by telling them that he's going to the capital, because they will give him the price his pearl is worth. The pearl buyers tells him that the pearl is worthless and is too big.
12: chapter five | Juana tries to throw the pearl back into the ocean during the night, and Kino beats her. While going back to the house, he gets attacked and kills a man. His canoe has a hole in it, so his plan for traveling to the capital by canoe, is out the picture. Juan and Apollonia hides Kino for the night. When everything settles down, Kino and his family leaves.
13: Chapter six | Kino and his family leaves town, covering their tracks. They were unaware that they was being followed. Kino takes them on a wild ride. He finally kills them. Baby Coyotito died! They go back to town because they are no longer running away and gets rid of the pearl.
14: theme/moral | One of the themes is not to trust your vision. When you see one thing, it might not be what you seen or visioned. So, your vision can mislead you.
15: things will never be the same | come together as one
