1: There were many rebels throughout America's history, but perhaps the most famous one was Thomas Edison. He was a great American Inventor with an amazing mind, and he took a large part in the making of our world today. In his life he had over 1000 U.S. patents, among which are the light bulb, printing telegraphs, and the phonograph. He also founded 14 companies, including General Electric, which is still strong and running today. | Rebel: a person that resists or defies a generally accepted convention
2: Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in the town of Milan, Ohio. He had seven older siblings and no younger ones. Edison only had 3 months of official schooling, then his mother made him stay home and she home schooled him.

4: When Edison was around the age of 23, he married a young 16 year old woman named Mary Stillwell. They had three kids, one of which went on to graduate Tale, and also became an inventor.
5: Edison did not actually invent the light bulb, he just made better versions that would actually last more than a couple of hours.
